Fair enough. You new here? Its the same thread every year. Fans claim "Player A" is a lock, other fans chime in and say "not so fast".

Oh I agree, which is one of many reasons why he won't win. But the user is just trying to troll or is just being a Leafs homer.I mean being on a worse team generally helps rookies...
Faber is playing 24 mins a night which is 1st pairing numbers and Knies is playing 14 mins a night which I am assuming is 3rd line numbers.
Knies 36th in TOI/GP.
Not saying anyone is better than anyone else, just that the strength of the team works against rookies sometimes too.
For this year only I might prefer to have Faber on my team. Not a Minny fan.
The Gordie Howe style...Rossi with a hat trick tonight…
Faber 1+1 but he only played 32 mins
Faber continuing to be the best rookie in the NHL.
The Calder should be labeled an illegitimate trophy if it's only given to the rookie with the most points, not the best rookie. It's Bedard's trophy....it was the moment he was drafted. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it is what it is. There is no way the league isn't giving it to him.

Ultimately, as fans, we all know what trophies are these days. It's a points/popularity contest. So at least in 20 years or so when people are looking back and saying "well he won the Calder" or "he won the Norris", the fans will know that doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot anymore. The Calder should be labeled an illegitimate trophy if it's only given to the rookie with the most points, not the best rookie.
+1 on the night. Might not be a coincidence.Hynes is running that kid into the ground. On the ice for all Montreal goals tonight. Might not be a coincidence.

He’s pacing ~42 and that number is increasing now that he has power play time.Sieder won it while being 4th in points for rookies so this is just silly talk. A defensemen does have to put up a decent point total though if they want to be in consideration for it. If there's a forward putting up 70-80 points, you best believe that any defensemen who wants to be seriously considered better put up around 50.
yeah and the best rookie is Bedard LMAOThe Calder should be labeled an illegitimate trophy if it's only given to the rookie with the most points, not the best rookie.
Barring injury Bedard is a lock to win this. He's a generational player with a fantastic skill set that puts asses in opposition arena seats. Nobody else, in the current crop of Calder candidates, does this.
Everyone agrees Faber is a very good. I wish the hawks had him. I have been arguing for Minnesota won that Fiala trade for a year now on the hawks board. He’s pacing ~42 and that number is increasing now that he has power play time.
Then the Calder isn’t for the best rookie, it’s for the highest scoring rookie. Which makes it mess meaningful by basically eliminating any chance a defender has at the award.Everyone agrees Faber is a very good. I wish the hawks had him. If Bedard puts up 75 points with 32 goals like hes pacing Faber just inst going to with the calder whether is fair or not I dunno you can argue if you want. That doesnt matter.
Hes got 7 points in his last 5 while they have been 1-4. Hes just dragging this team and improving while he figures out the NHL playing with nobodys.
Faber has been playing 30 minutes a night with Middleton, and the broken corpses of Merrill and Goligoski around. Not to mention...uhhh Damon Hunt another rookie and Mermis who is a AHLer at this point. Let's not pump the tires on Bedard playing with no body when Faber is doing this.Hes got 7 points in his last 5 while they have been 1-4. Hes just dragging this team and improving while he figures out the NHL playing with nobodys.
Unfortunately the award has become a scoring title for rookies. It's a bit unfair, there should be a defensive & offensive rookie of the year award. It's hard to compare Bedard to Faber, you can find a legit argument for both to win the Calder trophy. Then the Calder isn’t for the best rookie, it’s for the highest scoring rookie.
