Eh, they didn't really start playing until they were losing. They thought they were going to walk all over the Rangers tonight. Good on our boys to stay right with them.

Yeah, that dream pretty much died in my opinion tonight. Devils would have to go on a pretty good finish while we drop nearly everything the rest of the way.
I'd imagine we'll slide in at 5th or 6th. Really depends on how Anaheim plays. Buffalo is horrible but of their 8 games left, 5 are v. the Devils, Red Wings, and Senators.

It's going to be horrible either way.
They do nothing, half the board is going to cry about being Ottawa bad.
They do something, the other half (me included) are going to cry about not being bad enough.

I see the Rangers signing a couple of mid level free agents and signing them to Namestnikov-like deals. 2 or 3 year term, but overpaying a bit to keep the term down. Allows the team to have assets to trade for more picks during the next couple of deadlines.
As currently constructed, this is a bottom three team.

If they return status quo, they will be worse than Ottawa and duking it out with New Jersey and LA. They can't score at all. Crank pucks into traffic + pray offense.
yeah buffalo better snap out of it. for the most part they were pathetic tonight in Montreal. Jets run over the Preds as well. Not good. we need some better late results tonight. Ducks and Canucks please get some points.

Look at it this way, the team is actually playing a solid successful system already. That's huge. Once they slot in some more skill players the results should be much better. I agree a higher pick would be better. But there's plenty to like.

The year Baron Davis led them to the playoffs the atmosphere for the home games was legendary.
Ryan Strome and his brother finding a better culture for sure this season. New life. He should be a real good third liner next year.

their systems are VERY basic and easily schemed against. That's probably the biggest offseason priority, is adding a WHOLE LOT to those.
