So....Ben for OC? :sarcasm:

If Ben didn't hate Tomlin, I think it would be a possibility.

But even if Tomlin was gone would you give up family time to run an NFL offense? Plus I don't think good players make good coordinators or coaches. Ben called stuff HE was comfortable with bc of his traits. I'm not so sure that would translate well with teaching someone else

And I will also say, Minkah probably has 2 picks yesterday. It's almost good he didn't play because it just showed how much of a difference he makes on the back end. Porter looked like he got torched on that big TD they had in the 2nd half, but it was clear miscommunication. The safety for some reason came up from zone and the WR ran right behind him. Porter was getting ready to hand him off.

Does he hate Tomlin? He had him on his podcast and they seemed pretty chummy.

But, also, I said.....

":sarcasm:"

Quit being a baby.

Hines and Randel El were good vets and Nate Washington was a good rookie along with Heath Miller.

It certainly says something about the state of this team when that group was far more productive than what we have now even though the offense objectively has better weapons now.
So wait, your original comment was that Ben had the advantage because of the WR he had and not you're actually agreeing with me that the current WR are better yet you're still somehow trying to argue I'm wrong while actually agreeing with me. Defending a bad player really can lead to some logical challenges.

To be fair, we had yet another incident where a defensive play caller stated that they knew exactly what was going to happen a majority of the time and that the offense was predictable.

A QB matters - he needs to hit that first throw down the middle, and he sails FAR too many throws. This offensive scheme is in such shambles though, it's like trying to play football in a gauntlet. The defense knows when the pass is coming, they know when the run is coming, and there is almost no playbook. NFL pros have stated that the plays Canada is utilizing are like 2000's football. There is nothing original or creative about any of it.

Kenny is an issue, but Kenny isn't being set up for success either. If anyone believes he is, we are watching totally different games.

We are talking about Kenny but has anyone looked at our rushing stats yesterday? Not one runner had more than 20 yards!

Warren - 5 for 19
Trubisky - 3 for 18
Harris - 7 for 13
Pickett - 1 for 10
Austin - 2 for 10

For a team that wanted to be built around a strong running game, not being able to run the ball seems like it may be problematic.

And it’s not like they can just run Warren over Harris. Smaller sample size but he’s been just as bad running the ball as Harris.

You don’t beat Jacksonville running they have a top 5 rushing defense you beat them attacking their bottom 5 pass defense.
Teams don’t respect our passing game do they load up against the run as it.
Travis for jacksonville had 80 yards rushing

Boss, this goes way beyond Jax having a tough run D

They haven’t had a good running game for 5+ years.

Outside of a half dozen games last season agt shitty Ds, Tomlin’s running game has finished bottom five every season dating all the way back to 2018.

Canada is a massive issue, but he wasn’t even around when this woeful streak of not getting 400 yards on offense started.

Josh Dobbs has more yards, a higher completion %, more passing TDs, more rushing TDs than KP. All while on a crap team like Arizona. People need to wake up. He is a backup caliber QB. I'm not even sure he is in Charlie Batch's category.

All that being said, the OL is complete crap and is the #1 cause for the situation. OLs are built through the draft. It is very very rare for a good/great lineman to make it to free agency. They are usually over the hill or a mediocre player (like Seumalu) that is looking for a pay day.

Kevin Colbert's complete indifference to drafting players as the Oline was aging is reprehensible. And his 2021 draft will go down as one of the biggest fails in Steelers history.

The Steelers offense wil not get better until they fix the OL. And that really can only be done through the draft.

Understand the premise. We never attacked their defense. Aside from the first play of the game where Kenny sailed a throw.

They are on their 3rd o line rebuild since 2017
THey drafted a stud center. It makes all the difference in the world.

Yeah I agree I would be shocked if they drafted anything other c and cb in the first 2 picks

Steelers really need to find a legit money receiver as well.

DJ sure as hell isn't it, and I have my doubts about Pickens and his route running/ability to separate to be that guy.

People seem to overlook that a huge reason why Tagovailoa and Hurts took off in their third years was because of the massive acquisitions of AJ Brown and Tyreek Hill respectively.

I don't know if Kahn would do anything that dramatic, but this offense can't keep revolving around an unreliable, slow guy with a career avg of 10 YPC.

That 100% has to change.

This WR class in the draft looks really strong. I'd very seriously consider trying to flip DJ if we can get multiple picks, even in separate years. He's not going to be the difference in this team winning or losing.

Some player for player trades may make some sense also. Not sure what would be out there. With a young QB who has been sailing throws, we can use another big target. DJ is great if you can get the ball in his hands on the run, but he's not going to make the tough catches.

Much like the Pens, the Steelers need to find a new identity with what they are doing. I'd get a nimble tackle who is a better pass blocker than run blocker, and if we have to move Jones to the right, that will be fine. We need a center. I'd take one in the top 2 rounds.

They have zero identity.

I think Canada is a massive issue, but a lot of problems were there before he came along, like a shitty running game and the mind numbing idea of running the passing game through DJ.

If you can't run the ball worth a damn, and you feature a passing game with a small, slow WR who has a franchise worse 10 YPC career avg, with only one 1000 yard season to his name.... it's really time to rethink what the f*** you are doing on offense.

They need a new center, new OC, and they really, REALLY need to add an explosive WR that can be featured in the new O.

This no running game, DJ heavy offense has produced some of the worst Steelers Os in modern history.

It's proven to be an all time disaster.

Time to face reality Tomlin and Artie.

He probably has sympathy from the org so he feels like it’s ok to make those comments. I still don’t think he’ll be retained, but he probably has assurance from the Steelers that they won’t fire him.

Rumor is we're trading a 3rd and 5th for the Chicago CB

If that’s true I’d be totally fine with that. Johnson and Porter could be the duo for the foreseeable future and it leaves plenty of picks to address other areas.

The only concern I would have is that he’s immediately going to need a pretty big extension.
