Yes that’s true. And if they lost every game the rest of the season you’d stlll carry Tomlin’s water and make him out to be infallible.
No if they miss the playoffs with the remaining schedule he deserves the criticism the talk of trading him like Payton will be real. If he is given a real budget and doesn’t get the best young passing game coordinator or one of the consensus up and coming oc of the future guys he will deserve criticism

Yeah, wild how unprepared those teams looked during that time, huh?
Ben AB and Bell were not film study guys. They all relied heavily on natural talent and ability

So when the ride harris and warren to the playoffs and win a playoff game will people still complain
Also theres a real chance Cleveland misses the playoffs

Ben wasn’t a HOF player in the playoffs and the killer bees played in 1 playoff games together

They aren’t winning a playoff game if KP doesn’t turn it around, and only an eternal optimist thinks that will happen.

Here’s more truth about Tomlin you obviously don’t want to confront.

He either:

- whiffed badly on KP and isn’t very good at evaluating QBs.

- botched his development badly.

There is no option C, try as I’m sure you will to find it.

And yes, KP was Tomlin’s guy and that’s well known, and I gave him big time props for taking KP.

Tomlin had KP in the same building and could not have more of an optimal scouting advantage to know what he was getting in the guy.

Given KP has some historically bad numbers (we seem to use this term often with Tomlin teams), Tomlin f***ed up somewhere.

I’m going with option B and I’ll be floored if KP turns it around TBTH - I can only think of 2-3 guys that looked this shell shocked and clawed their way back.

Or he was the consensus best in a crappy Qb class, if Howell doesn’t stick in Washington then only Purdy is the only one getting to season 3 as the unquestioned qb 1. I am great full Tennessee didn’t let us trade up. The draft before Lawerence is the only guy getting his 5th year option picked up.
Everyone said KP was Dalton Bridgewater Tanahill some said Alex Smith but if everything goes well Carr so no one thought he would become top 10 Qb

Who cares? I can’t even wrap my head around the excuses you throw out for Tomlin.

He didn’t have to draft KP if he thought the class was so shitty.

He either thought he was a low floor QB and stupidly took him anyway, or saw a guy he could build his franchise around.

Then botched his development by giving him MC and teaching him to play scared.

No clue how you can keep dancing around this shit.

It’s A or B.

If they had baker mayfield or geno smith level qb play they would be winning the division’s
Why are you putting KP 100 percent on Tomlin they always have a committee approach at the draft

So A, Tomlin whiffed.

What I'll say about the mid-2010s Steelers: if your secondary is bad/untalented, you don't have a "loaded" roster. It's a passing league. You need 2-3 viable players back there at least.

I believe it was B, though it wasn't just him. Rooney and Colbert take a share of the responsibility as well.

And, QB is not some absolute where the Steelers are the only team to have drafted a QB in the first round and that player has not worked out. The consensus most brilliant offensive mind of this generation traded a crapton of high picks to choose Trey Lance and that bombed massively and the only reason he isn't getting more crap for it is he lucked into Brock Purdy.

I just hope that if they don't think Pickett is the guy, that they move on from him and either draft another guy or pick up a veteran that they will trust to run the offense.

Go read up on Terry Bradshaw's early career, he was not liked & replaced as starter by Terry Hanratty & Jefferson Street Joe Gilliam

Tomlin is here until he doesn’t want to be. We’ve gone over this a million times. He is absolutely adored by media around the country and they consistently call for him to be considered for coach of the year. Players want to play for him and he has a winning record. That’s all anyone points to. He’s consistently ranked in the top 3-5 when they do coach rankings. Until that narrative changes, it is what it is for us.

Playoff wins be damned, we are with him until he leaves on his own.

He was Tomlin’s guy, I’m done pretending that’s not the truth.

I gave him huge props for it.

Nobody can convince me KP is the worst starting QB to get drafted in the last 20 years, and that’s what his stats are telling us.

I’m 99% sure Tomlin evaluated him correctly and then botched his development as badly as a coach possibly could.

At worse a quality coach would get mediocre results from KP, not all time historically bad numbers.

My concern is now for the next guy because I think Tomlin has botched this so badly.

AR2 needs to step in and let Kahn/Weidl take control of the next OC search and take it out of Tomlin’s hands.

Tomlin has proven without a doubt he’s too incompetent at picking OCs.

The 2010's Steelers was the most loaded offense we have had since the 70's. Ben, Bell, and Brown were all on pace for HOF careers. That line was top notch. Had Brown stayed, JuJu probably has 3-4 big years. It's the biggest wasted opportunity of our generation and it's so incredibly unfortunate.

Well, they invested everything into the offense and the pass defense was absolute garbage. Shrug.

Tomlin isn’t getting any funds to get assistant coaches Canada made 1.5 million the ravens oc makes double that
Zack Willson was worse than kp Lance especially when a team traded multiple picks for

I agree that Tomlin is here regardless of what happens. What I do think could change is that Andy Weidl, in particular, tries to get more say in the coordinators and staff and he starts bringing in his people. That is what needs to happen. Let Tomlin be the figurehead, and bring pieces in that can let him have that impact.

Tomlin really needs to get out of his own way at this point, and bringing in a different staff is what it is needed.

I lived through this and, while I was just a kid, remember thinking all the bad stuff about Bradshaw, probably because I kept hearing it on TV and maybe even from my dad. All the kids in the neighborhood wanted to be Joe Gilliam when we played backyard football.

No doubt. My posting history would definitely align with that thought.
The segment of this board that accuses people of being Tomlin apologists if there is literally any comment other than "HE'S THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL" is f'ing annoying. I'm far more anti-Tomlin than I am pro-Tomlin yet these clowns continue to lump me in with BigDaddyWaterboy. It's kind of exhausting, but nuance has no place on this board.

SOOOOOOO It is Poor Little Rich Kid Fart Rooney The 2nd's Fault & Kenney Pickett's Fault?
Art signs the checks if he doesn’t want to pay the he going rate for assistant coaches and position coaches your not going to get the best of the best.
I dont understand how the ravens can pay Harbaugh the same as Tomlin and invest another 12 million in assistant coaches.
Andy talked Art into expanding the scouting staff and paying more
