The football gods would have made sure!If that was Mason Rudolph or Mitch Trubisky they would have run it in themselves
UMMM you might want to check his last startThe rookie knows how to step up to his right into the pocket to avoid the edge rush and run.
What has he shown to make you think he deserves more of a chance than he has gotten? Legit question. Sell me on what you have seen that makes you want to invest more in him. He has been good at not turning it over and has shown the ability to suck all game but turn it on in the 4th in a close game. I cannot come up with anything else. He is near the bottom of starters in yards per attempt and completion percentage, so he isn't even particularly good at checking it down. There are all kinds of caveats to attempt to explain away not seeing anything (bad OC, bad o-line mostly, bad running game until recently, etc.), but what is there to put on the ledger that is positive for Pickett? I want to have hope but I just don't see the basis for it other than to explain away everything by what is around him. That still is not a positive case for Pickett though.If/when Pickett ends up a bust, the Steelers are going to become the prime example of "how to not develop a QB".
His confidence is completely shot at this point and he's just playing to not turn the ball over. He already has flaws as a QB that limits him, but him being scared to make a mistake is making him an even less effective QB. They're playing to try to maintain mediocrity and they're trying to utilize Pickett to achieve that, not trying to develop Pickett into a QB that they could actually win a Super Bowl with.

So you think that they should have him throw it 40 times a gameWell the Steelers saw something in him, hence why they used a 1st round pick on him.
They used a 1st rounder on a QB only to tell him "we need you to play to not turn the ball over so we can maintain Tomlin's winning record". Seems like a pretty downright moronic way to develop a QB to me.
