I trust the FO regarding Pickens or any other trade or no trade. They got a lot more right than they did wrong this past offseason. Re-signing a backup QB who’s a good locker room guy and swapping out Sutton for PP were their worst moves.

Trubisky proved to be kinda backbreaking in practice but I still think both errors are understandable and minor if you look at it in terms of front office decision making.

I don’t know if Sutton for PP was such a bad swap specially if PP is going to get consideration at SS Sutton got paid

Not even sure he's this. Doesn't feel the skill guys rallied around him.

But yeah, right now they get the benefit of the doubt.

It's amazing to me how high a mountain some people will climb to defend someone as mediocre as Mike Tomlin. The guy who is supposed help develop a young Qb.

18 years of mediocre Mike.

Pickett is what? Year 2 and a reflection of the coaching staff. Starting with Tomlin

All forgiven
Why is it that anytime someone criticizes Kenny Pickett that also means they love Mike Tomlin? Why can’t people think both Kenny and Mike are bad? I’m a little confused by this

It wasn't your imagination.

The Steelers for the first time in forever opened the offense and that was what made all the difference.

They opened the offense up…. Or Mason Rudolph wasn’t afraid to take shots and saw the field differently? Because I really believe Kenny is so risk averse that he doesn’t choose to take shots even if they could be available

I only half care anymore, my foot is half out the door.. I live in Florida now and like the Bucs.

Also lol.. im pretty sure @Smoke is another Clown detractor so that should answer your question.

And BTW, what a coach Todd Bowles is. Clown only wishes he was that smart.

Rudolph threw for 9 intended air yards per target vs the Bengals.

Pickett threw for 8.5.

Hell, by this metric, Trubisky was very aggressive.

The difference, at least post Canada, isn't about opening up the offence. It's about looking for Pickens... and I think it's about the Bengals being really bad.

Petersen could extend his career by 3-4 years if he moves to safety.

Good on Warren also for showing how to block on the end around to Austin. He destroyed his guy.

That's what you call "walking your talk". Which ironically is the opposite of what his Head Coach does.

Warren and Jones are really the only likeable guys on offense

The AJ Brown trade is the closest comp I see to Pickens from an age/production standpoint. Brown was looking for a new contract, so it isn’t apples to apples.

Anything short of a 2nd round pick doesn’t really make sense for us imo.

I think Pickens will request a trade this offseason. I doubt the Steelers would willingly move on from him.

The Bills should absolutely be in the Pickens market if the Steelers want to trade him. They won't bea ble to afford Gabe Davis (and Pickens is a better WR)

I honestly think there would be a bidding war for Pickens. His character flaws only come out when he's frustrated. Throw him on KC, Buffalo, or Philly and he'll be just find.

I'd go after Russ if they cut him. Get rid of Mitch. Let Mason walk. Kenny #2.
If he’s under a new contract, I’d absolutely be on board with him. If Kenny is truly good enough to be a starter in this league then he can beat out a washed up Russ Wilson for the job.

Wilson is cooked. No way I want him around this team and they probably can't afford his contract either.

Continue to focus on the Oline next offseason. Then we can see what the QB market (draft/FA) looks like the following year.

If Russ gets cut I imagine he’d be signing for a 1 year prove it deal type of situation-- probably a 2 year deal with some sort of opt out. He already got paid, and I doubt any teams would be willing to offer him any significant guaranteed $ at this point of his career.

I don’t see why we should delay the QB search another year. Get a guy in there who can actually compete with Pickett. I hate the idea of crowning Pickett as the undisputed starter, make him work for it.

“People are making a lot out of one game.”

People after the first Bengals game “see Kenny is good, look what he can do when he isn’t hamstrung by Canada. 400 yards, Kenny looked great out there!”

I believe the general consensus was “Kenny looked better without Canada let’s see if he can keep it up” then he got hurt.

To me bringing Wilson in is exactly what delaying the QB search looks like. It's handing a year to an almost certainly not the answer guy - who even if he is the answer only buys you a couple of years before you start again - rather than giving it to a guy who has slightly better odds and a lot more mileage if you hit.
