I thought it was pretty well known why he got benched. He thought they should kneel it out because they were the same plays while trying to "come back"
Which is a major indictment of Tomlin that your #1 pick only got to play because the incumbent ran his mouth. Not due to substandard performance
You can't make this shit up
I must have missed it. I only heard about the same plays thing.
And yes, the use of Jones this season has been absolutely wild.
The frustration around this team is palpable. I cannot remember it ever being like this. Everyone is frustrated and no one has any slight clue as to where to begin to fix it.
It sounds crazy, but you almost need to bring back the past here and have those guys around the team again. Make an effort to have the guys who were here and still want to be a part of football to be around the team as much as possible. I know that is something Belichick has done in NE.
The Pats aren't exactly a model to follow these days...
To me it's simple. You build a better team that can win games. Winning breeds culture. So forget about the culture and clear out the errant coaching, and get in better players, and start winning games and watch it happen. No amount of pep talks or reminders of high standards can get the job done if your game plan + talent is clearly inferior to their game plan + talent.
At best, somehow fixing the culture without improving the team just gets them back to being the NFL's best team at eking out unnecessarily tight victories over non-great teams. Short term it's more fun to see, but long term it's probably worse than just burning things down.
I think they should hedge bets. Trade Tomlin, DJ, and Chuks this offseason. Bring in a new coach and OC. If it is still bad, trade the entire bunch. Have 2-3 drafts stocked full of capital.
Good news: We have a LT. Unfortunately for him.
Agreed.
It's very easy for a strip it down to the studs rebuild to become the Browns or Lions for ages.
It's also very easy for three or four key appointments and acquisitions to turn things around super quick.
Also, unless I've missed something, there's not a whole bunch of trading in the NFL. Which puts a limit to how much you can trade away anyway.
edit: We seen TJ Watt talking about guys taking criticism personally and not wanting to train? Did he actually say that?
