I think the definition of "winning" is wildly different between the Steelers and the fans. Them winning 9 games is "winning" to them. It's a game-by-game basis and if they have performed better than the other team that is successful.

"Winning" to a fan is success past the games that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. Sports are played to win championships. If you're not competing to do that, it's all a dog and pony show. The Steelers have been as much for a decade.

Unless Penix or Daniels falls to them, they should just let Rudolph and Pickett battle it out next year. Get some 5th round QB as an emergency guy.

Half a thought to parlay Watt + the 2025 1st to move into the top 6-8, but I think the Watt legacy is really important (and he is still their best player by far)

He was the emergency QB3. If something happened to Mason and Mitch, he could have played.

Emergency QB dresses. He was in street clothes.

I'd love to have Nix or Penix (some injury concerns) fall to us somehow after the 1st.

Never gonna happen, but dare to dream.

I think saying Pickett 'refused' to be the backup is probably overstating it. They probably told him he was going to be the emergency QB because he didn't practice and he was butthurt about it. So to protect his ego some, they are trying to play it off like he wasn't available even though he technically was.

They’re likely the QB4/5 out of this class. I think it’s reasonable to say one could fall to us, there’s only so many spots where a QB can land.

I haven't looked at any recent mocks, but with us currently in the ~18th spot, it'd take some shenanigans to have us land either one without using our 1st.

It would actually be useful to see KP play this week.

The Steelers playoff chances are still really small.

And I keep being told definitively that it is Rudolph, not an offensive philosophy change, that accounts for the opening up of the offense and going downfield more.

Seeing KP play would give a window into if that is true. And if not, how KP preforms in an offense that operates in places other than within two yards of the line of scrimmage. And that is less vanilla and predictable as many ex-Steelers have accused. Especially on first down.

Yeah, it’ll be a sweat for sure, especially if Williams, Maye, and Daniels all go in the top 3

No. KP sits unless Rudolph falters.

Man Devin Bush just hates football/contact

He blows as a linebacker. And oddly enough, we did the exact thing to Seattle that every other team was able to do to us when he was starting.

I truthfully don’t think KP makes some of these throws to Pickens while the pocket collapses like Rudolph has. KP tries to escape and gets sacked when that occurs, typically.

He doesn't. Mason Cole was basically in Rudolph's lap at points and Mason stood tall and got a throw off.

How useful is it to watch Pickett beat down on backups? He looked like a MVP candidate in the preseason, but it didn’t translate to anything in the regular season.

I haven’t seen anyone crown Rudolph as the starter going into the 2024 season, but assuming he doesn’t completely flop this week, he’s earned an opportunity to battle for the starting job next year with Pickett. If it goes badly, we’ll be in a position to draft a QB.

And I am not arguing otherwise. Rudolph proved himself.

It would be nice now to see if KP can, or more importantly cannot, do the same.

Pennix with his injury concerns is being mocked in low 20s high 30s

Baltimore's back-ups could well make for a better defence than either of the last two we've played tbh.

I wouldn't touch Penix with his injury history. He has been hurt a majority of his career and they have been very serious. He's also an older prospect like Kenny was.
