The more I read and watch prospects the more I think Broderick Jones is our guy. Additionally, if they can manage to land Wright out of Tennessee - it's a new day of Steelers football with that offensive line. Najee would be 5 yards down field before getting touched.

Well you're not an idiot like the Jets
I don’t think the Jets are giving up a 1st either that’s why the trade is on hold. I think a 2nd is expensive but they will do that. The 2nd in 23 and a 25 pick based on 24 outcome and did Rodger play in 24 idea is where i am at

I firmly believe the Rodgers trade is not happening til after June 1st because of the salary cap implications.

Pre-June 1st trade cap dead money:
2023: 40.3
2024: 24.5
2025: 16.3
2026: 8.1

Post-June 1st trade cap dead money:
2023: 15.8
2024: 8.1
2025: 8.1
2026: 8.1

Thus I think the trade will be for the Jets 2024 1st and 3rd and then a pick in the 2025 draft (2025 2nd) if Rodgers plays in 2024.

Idk...the Jets are super horny for Rodgers and I can see them wanting this limbo to be over with. They are dumb to entertain this idea. Even dumber for giving up assets.

I think they are panicking. They should give this another year to see how their team performs before going big QB name hunting.

They drafted KP at 20 and started MT. They drafted Pouncey and he was supposed to sit

I think they would like to ease any rookie in, but I cannot see any scenario Paris Johnson, Broderick Jones, or Peter Skoronski get to SVC and don't completely destroy Dan Moore in any drill designed for offensive linemen.

Jones is the least plug and play ready option.

I can see him needing some runway.

Skoronski and Johnson would be a big let down if there not at least functional day 1.

The trade is on hold because the Packers are apparently asking for a Stafford return which would equate to - 2 1sts, a third and Wilson.

If it was for the 13th overall, I'm pretty sure the trade would be done by now.

“More complicated is the fact that the Jets and the Green Bay Packers have to figure out compensation on what it would take to acquire Aaron Rodgers — and my understanding is that within the Packers organization they felt that he was worth a package that was similar to the one that the Rams once got for Matthew Stafford,” Schefter said, adding that the Jets “have to figure out what they’re willing to pay.”

You don’t give up a 1st for someone who isn’t guaranteed to be on your team in 2 years in the nfl.

They are horney to save their jobs as the Hc and gm. So many jets fans would love to just have a the longest playoff drought in the nfl and soon to be longest drought in North America sports to end.

Completely disagree actually. I think Jones will step in for any team next year immediately. Jones may struggle initially, but I don't think it takes any time for him whatsoever. What helps is that he's about as physically imposing a LT as has been around in quite some time. He's gigantic, but when you see him, he looks like a TE. I haven't been as impressed by a OL prospect in quite some time.

I actually think Johnson may struggle because he's not as powerful and he can sometimes lose leverage being so tall. I think Skoronski will stick at tackle, but with his arm length, that may be challenging. I think Skoronski is a 10-time Pro Bowler at G though.

I dunno about that.

Every single thing ive read on him says he needs to refine his technique.

Where thats an assets for Johnson and Skoronski, especially Skoronski

I wouldn't, and maybe those teams wouldn't, but then again I'm not running a team that hasn't won a SB since bell bottoms were cool.

When Joe Namath is your last really good QB, that's a problem.

When you use a third and second overall on trying to find a Qb in the last four drafts, and you still don't have an answer, a 13th overall for AR doesn't seem like such a deep price.

If they think he can get them to a SB next season, I'd imagine that isn't a steep price to pay given the draft capital they have invested at the position, only to see it get pissed away.

I can't imagine a 13th overall is holding this deal up, now multiple firsts? Ya.

So if we didn’t have KP and have not been in afc championship since 2017 would you give up our
1st for guy whose won 2 playoff games since then. Especially when it cost the same team a 3rd to get farve
If love could actually play they would take the cap savings and 2nd and move on

Steelers have won 6 SBs since the Jets last won long before most of us were even born, and I saw two of them. I've seen the Steelers get to four SBs since '95, so my level of desperation compared to a Jets fan isn't even in the same universe.

It's like asking who would be more willing to pay for sex with a hooker with herpes: a 40 year old virgin or a guy on a cold streak who hasn't gotten laid in a month.

The level of desperation is just different.

Except you’re not guaranteed to win a superbowl or even your division and its not guaranteed that you even have 2 years out if you give up a 1st. The packers are desperate since they are tired of of dealing with Rodgers drama and not even have real playoff success kinda like Ben and the Steelers and if it wasn’t for Rooney Ben would have been forced to retire. Love is their Mason.
If the jets we’re desperate they would go after lamar. They don’t even know if Rodgers will show up in April if they trade for him

Re the OT stuff -

I can't remember how things went when they tried Chuks at LT. Before I paid attention really. I know some people said it went about as bad as Moore at RT. But, whatever happened, switching ain't easy once you build habits, and it's not like Okorafor is hugely better than Moore. I really wouldn't be surprised if Moore won a battle between the two of them.

But then I've always got the feeling the team like Moore than most fans. Ben's latest podcast talked about how he liked Moore and thought the team did too. They're clearly doing their research on potential replacements in the draft - the OL coach was at Skoronski's pro day, Tomlin took most of OSU's offensive line for dinner - but I dunno they feel the same fervor that this place does.

I'd point out that Moore had no penalties called in the final four games of the season and while I dunno how many of the four sacks were him, he did keep Garrett fairly quiet and the big "oh crap" moments they stick in the Ravens highlights came from the right side. For better or for worse, that final stretch saved a few people from the chopping block, and I really wouldn't be surprised if Moore was one of them.

I think where we differ on opinion is how much his technique needs refined. I don't disagree that he isn't a finished product, but I think his technique will be very quickly refined just by having pro coaching staff. He will be able to work out the technique while playing because he so incredibly strong and athletic, IMO.

I do agree though, Skoronski is probably the best technician I have ever seen. The way the dude slides looks like he's on ice. Unbelievable talent. If we were in our hayday of Steelers football here, I'd draft Skoronski and make him a guard. Total luxury pick.

No trade or pick guarantees anything.

Whomever they take with the 13th may bust for all we know.

Rodgers already said he will play for them, so why wouldn’t he show up?

Douglas has wasted a 2 overall on Wilson and the team is 20-46 under him.

We can pretend this is about fans feelings, but Douglas may not have a job if the Jets have another losing season.

He already has three double digit loss seasons in a row, so I suspect he feels way more desperate than Gutekunst.

Woody isn’t getting any younger at 75, so I doubt he will want to undergo yet another rebuild or be forgiving of a fourth losing season in a row.

Not seeing your point how the Packers are more desperate here.

If Gutekunst is wrong on Love he is fired. Yeshe will play for them however will he show up for camp and team ota practice with his new teammates. He probably is going to skip most off season stuff like he did in Greenbay
