Unless there’s an egregious faller, I wouldn’t be too mad at Addison or JSN even at 17. Look how many viable pass catchers both the Chiefs and Eagles had, each team was like 5-6 deep.
I was hoping that we would bring back Simms, I liked what I saw from him last year. What they think they have with Austin also comes into play with drafting a WR early. Also, they may go TE and use more two TE sets and that would change their draft.

I wish I knew what they were thinking, but I'm also glad they're not telegraphing their thought process as well.

I mean, I just want good players, maaaan.

There's still a few holes, although FA isn't over either. The big one I feel legit worried by is mack ILB, and that doesn't even necessarily have to be fixed with an ILB as I'd probably chill on it if Edmunds came back with the idea that we'd run a lot of 3 safety looks where he's effectively a mack ILB.

But other than that... Kaboly reckons Maulet will be fine as slot CB and would probably play over any rookie anyway. DL could use another guy, preferably someone who can play inside. OLB3 could use someone better, although gotta question how many snaps they see in an ideal world. Swing tackle feels a minor need, back up C is kind of a need and kind of not, and then you to go who's slot WR...

*shrugs* I guess my one thing about drafting a WR is this draft doesn't feel loaded there but you know teams are going to hit the position anyway. I don't want them to get stuck on "we've got to do this" and ignore better value.

Yeah I mean they could go all offense early and it would still make sense as the only thing that matters for the Steelers is Kenny becoming a superstar.

if they hit on their picks there’s gonna be little to complain about regardless of position.

why aren't we re-signing Sims? he was good last year and that scrub rookie didnt play at all

Addison is a little less scary because he actually played last year but I think JSN is WR1 if you think both end up as slot WRs. The 2021 tape is crazy.

If you think Addison can play outside then he’s probably WR1.

Have always liked Boutte but there’s so many red flags both with his play and off the field stuff that I think it’s gotta be 49 at the earliest. Because even though I like him I could see him being an absolute bust.
With JSN you need to have some determination how much of his 2021 was due to the attention paid to Wilson and Olave. Because you don’t have 2022 of him as the guy.

I know we’re in the midst of BPA talk and I know we have another month to talk about everything drafted-related but I’m still firmly on CB/OL/DL is some combination with the first three picks. Yes, of course, if all of the talent in the appropriate tiers of those positions is gone with each of those picks there will be plenty of other talent available but I don’t believe that will happen.

probably is more of the same question with Harrison there. You could also say he outproduced Wilson and Olave, but yeah I don’t disagree.

I think it’s more about how high do you want to take a slot receiver that’s not a weapon as a blocker in the run game or can be a Kupp type of YAC/chess piece slot WR.

On the flip side if you think he can consistently separate and reliably catch 80 balls in the middle of the field as a safety valve for a decade- that’s a still a good player, and probably one that looks good at #17 in a redraft.

It is absolutely insane to me how big Dawand Jones is. 36+ inch arms. Almost 12 inch hands. I don't even know how you live life with hands that big. If a team can get him to drop 20 pounds, he could insanely dominant. He has to get lighter.

Really like the Steelers offseason thus far. Our interior offensive line should be very solid. Maybe top eight or 10 in the league. At least they seem to have a clue as to what they're doing unlike the Penguins.

I've seen a couple mocks sending him to Steelers with the idea Tomlin loves him, and the suggestion they could move Chuks back to LT where he played in college.

I'm done with Chuks, to be honest. He shows flashes of being a solid lineman, but he's just too soft. Both he and Moore look like NFL linemen, and they would rather play tiddleywinks than bury a guy.

Tomlin was on Big Ben's podcast and he was talking about the 2010 team and how that team spurred the creation of the Dept of Player Safety by the way they played. I have heard that those 2008-2010 teams are the ones that this regime wants to emulate with this retool. Our two tackles do not exude that mindset whatsoever.

So many mock drafts are all over the place with where/when guys are getting picked.
It's the most unpredictable draft I can remember. Guys literally have a 2-3 round swing in some cases. It is why I wouldn't be opposed to them getting aggressive if guys they really like start to drop to levels they didn't expect.

Tomlin and Kahn at Iowa pro day. Van Ness?

Campbell and LaPorta as well.

Don't sleep on the Steelers taking a TE with one of the first 3 picks. I lean more on the pick at 49 but they don't have any other TE's that play at the line of scrimmage. I consider Heyward as more of an H-back.

They could look at a guy like LaPorta, Kincaid, Musgrave as a slot receiver like KC uses Kelce. Washington is more of a road grader, extra tackle.

I feel like Washington is the better compliment because Muth ain't a great blocker but is pretty established as a receiver. But honestly I just want Washington as the athletic potential is sky high. Not that I'd complain about any of these other gentlemen...

If they replace Chuks I won’t lose any sleep over it, but Moore has to be the first T replaced of the two.

Just hard to imagine they look at both T and think Chuks is the priority to replace.

Chuks is a good pass protector and decent in the run game, whereas Moore is good in the run game, but bound to get KP selling insurance for a living with his pass blocking.

The thing is it's a lot easier to find a RT than a LT. And I'm not sure Chuks can slide over. I think that it's pretty possible they see a chance to upgrade Okorafor this year, but not Moore.

Chuks played LT in college, but I think it was him who lost to Banner a couple years back for the position - can’t remember.

But ya good LT are notoriously hard to find, which is why I don’t care if they use even 32 to trade up for one.

He can slide over the issue is Moore can not play RT so he can not be the swing tackle
