I think the biggest step forwards for Canada is being told to take more risks. I am a firm believer that the offence he delivered in the second half of last season was the offence he was asked to deliver - ball control, no risks. Apart from the admittedly really key part where it barely scored any touchdowns, it was pretty good at that task.

But they're gonna have to let Pickett make some daring throws if he and the team are going to progress. They're going to have to work in some RPO to let Pickett target defences that have set up to stop Harris running.

Which leads us to a good discussion. Trevvor Sikkema of PFF put out a new 3 round mock and the first round is probably the worst case for the Steelers. The top 4 LT, top 3 CB + Brian Branch and Jalen Carter have been picked before 17. So, it's a good discussion point. What would you like the Steelers to do?

My thought would be to trade down if they are going to pick a RT. I think they could trade down to the mid 20's and still get Dawand Jones or Darnell Wright. Pick up an extra 2nd or 3rd.

That's time to pray for a trade down alright. Which I think is totally possible. You're asking who wants to trade up and start the run on WR/TE.

Daniels played RG. Dotson played LG. Dotson has said he's more comfortable playing RG, but they kept him at LG.

If we are really in worst case scenario, I'd try to get two 2nd's for our first. Pick Wright at 32 to play RT.

I actually think Daniels and Cole should be flip flopped. Daniels was a much better college center and Cole is longer and more athletic than Daniels.

Pre-draft measurables gave Daniels arms about 1.5 inches longer and significantly better scores in the 20 yard shuttle, three cone drill, and vertical jump.

Yeah but they are going to treat Kp like Dak he is 16-22 when he throws 35 times a game. Not worried about Rodgers they will finish 3rd with him in the east. The East will eat itself like the afc West did last year. I don’t think they win a championship in the next 2 years I think they will win a playoff game this upcoming season

Burrow saying he didn’t understand nfl open on year 3 hurts didn’t pop until year 3 the dolphins went all in on tua in year 3. Allen didn’t pop until year 3. I don’t expect anything until year 3 from kp

Dak is another individual. They can’t worry about what some other QB has done.

I’ve already talked ad nauseam about year three for QBs being their most pivotal year, but you can’t push them backwards in year two with a fearful and conservative approach.

By next season, they have to start laying the foundation that allows KP to grow.

Tomlin and Canada can’t live in their fears and play turtle ball. That will stall KP’s development if they turn him into some meek QB afraid to take chances.

He has to be allowed to take risks and they can’t pound it in his head so much about picks that he’s afraid to push the ball down field again.

He became risk adverse and it helped them win, but to flourish and become that guy they need to win in big games, he can’t be sheltered like he’s a rookie anymore.

from what I’ve seen it look like there are maybe 8 corners that have first or second round grades on them and no one really distinguishes himself as all that special…they all have knocks on them…rather the Steelers select a corner at 32…hopefully some clear cut best or second best at some other position becomes available at 17…I don’t really trust the Steelers to distinguish who’s going to be great corner from merely adequate lol

It looks like Porter, but we don't know if this new regime is on that same page. I bet a DT within the first 2 picks.
Maybe DL but Cam wants to sign a few more vets before the draft at Dl. They need to replace Tyson and Wormley who were 3rd and 4th in play time percentage

They’re setting up the draft really well with this free agency I think.

Ideally one of the top tackles falls, but if not I’d be pretty happy with them going defense with the first three picks. The interior of the line is pretty set.

That’s awesome! I’m guessing someone is getting cut. Love this as well:

His pass block win rate of 93.6% ranked 15th among all guards this season, while his run block win rate ranked 20th.

Pretty obvious with the signings of Holcomb and Roberts at LB and Herbig and Seumalo at O-line that the priority of the new regime is to build a way more physical team. I'd expect that to continue in the draft.

Interior O-line is a bit crowded now though. Dotson probably sits but you still have the 4 of Seumalo, Cole, Daniels and Herbig fighting for 3 starting spots. Good depth at least.

I wonder if you could trade Dotson. I dunno if that saves any cap, but he is capable and does have potential. Maybe you get a pick for him.

I like this whole new idea they have going on that if someone isn’t good at their job, they replace them.

Well, except Canada.

Bush, Spillane, and Jack produced zero splash plays - gone.

Dotson almost got KP killed, now he’s put on notice and zero chance he will start outside of a couple injuries.

IOL should be beastly now. They are just one good LT away from a top ten type OL.

I think FA will now allow them to be really aggressive moving up in the draft to find a LT.
