People said the same thing about Jordan Davis last year, and some said the same thing about Devin Bush 4 years ago.

I only consider a trade like this for a can't miss qb. Otherwise you trade up if you have to give up mid round picks to move a few spots.
Carter could very well be the most talented player in this draft.

Game changers are rare.

And fills a position of enormous need.

If the cost is 17 and 32 I would pay it.

If you see as such, then I understand the reasoning. I thought Carter was this player after watching Davis before last years draft. I watched a bunch of GA's games this year and I didn't see the same player. Not saying he'll be a bust, but I don't see an Aaron Donald. It's a hard one though, because I didnt see that player this year.

17 and 32 is too much for pick 10. 17 and 49 is technically enough but I could see it being plus something like next years 3rd to get a team to move.

17 and 32 is enough for pick 7.

For reference:

“The Steelers acquired the 10th pick from the Denver Broncos and chose Michigan linebacker Devin Bush. In exchange for the 10th selection, Denver received Pittsburgh's 2019 first- and second-round picks (Nos. 20 and 52) and a 2020 third-round pick.”

This is assuming that Carter is still there at 10.

But sure, if a team will bite on your offer bring it on.

At least they’ll know who they have to jump ahead of if they choose to go that route.

Reversal of roles from the revis/Timmons draft

I can almost guarantee that he falls at least to 8 to 10.

I wouldn't guarantee that. Seattle, Chicago, or Detroit will take him, I think.

Carter was a better player last year than Davis. Many said he was the best on that UGA defensive line. Devin Bush was never a can't miss. He was a consolation prize. Moving up for one of the tackles this year would be the equivalent to moving up for Bush. They have better odds at being plus starters, but I don't think any of them are can't miss or are destined to be All Pro tackles.

Carter has been ticketed for a really long time. I would liken him to Suh coming out. Without question top 5 talent wise. The thing teams need to determine is if this is a kid who is immature and has got himself into a bit of a situation, or if there is something systemically wrong with him, in which case he should be completely avoided. I think this defense can assist in maturing an immature lineman. They can't help if he's a natural troublemaker, which I don't believer is the case.

If Carter drops I think it's overpayment to get up there to get him.

I think it’s for the best the Steelers didn’t close the deal but interesting how aggressive the new FO is.

Done. Paris Johnson is a Steeler.

I wouldn't be opposed. I don't think Johnson is can't miss like Carter though, so there is some risk like there was taking Bush. With Carter, you're talking about a franchise altering talent if he's at his best.

I would have paid Orlando Brown Jr just to kick the can down the road a bit, honestly.

Whoa that is really interesting. I think I’m glad they ultimately didn’t end up giving him a big deal. He’s definitely better than Moore but there’s a reason the Chiefs were fine letting him walk.

I dont pay much attention to NFL salary caps, so i cant say for sure if we could have afforded Brown. But that would have been a really good signing. Bump Moore out and still take an OT if one of the big 3 fall.

Cause he isn’t a LT. Maholmes escapabilty saved a ton of sacks. He struggles mightily with speed rushers its why the ravens moved on

And for all the crap I have given to Tomlin over the years for being stubborn, incapable of learning from mistakes, and hopelessly mediocre, the thing that he excels at is relating to players and being a 'players' coach'.

Perfect landing spot for this kid to land at for the issues to be a bump in the road.

And before I hear about AB blah blah blah I remind you that Tomlin got years of great play out of him before he completely whacked out.

But it wasn't just AB that ran amock. Bell and Blount hotboxing in the car after a game. Ben wasn't exactly held to task either.

Tomlin is the worst coach for a player like this. He needs structure, not an enabler.

Steelers restructured MF:

Leaves some pretty big numbers on his yearly hits, but I always assume Kahn knows what he’s doing with the cap.

This is likely a way to fit in some of the new deals.

Can always do Watt’s as well to free up about 10m.

Not that it should cost much, but I assume they are hunting for a vet WR since Simms was not offered a deal.

I think thats a very silly way to look at it.

At the end of the day you have a lunatic egomaniac (brown), a dummy (bell) and whatever you want to call roethlisberger. Tomlin got the best out of them and kept them under control for the better part of a decade.

Moore really needs to be kicked inside this season. I think he could solve the Dotson issue. Dotson should really be traded because he doesn't fit in Canada's system. Unfortunate because I thought he was a really good player in the right system.

I think Pickett is a new dawn for Tomlin. He came into a team with an established, Super Bowl winning QB who he gave a lot of power to, which was a main reason both Bell and Brown stated for their displeasure. The dynamic was always interesting. I think an elder Tomlin with a younger QB could change the dynamic for the better, or it could completely expose him. I'm still on the fence about what way it goes.

I wanted Tomlin to draft KP badly. Loved what I saw on tape and felt this time last year he would be a special QB - still feel that way, even more so.

So I’ll keep giving Tomlin credit for taking KP and if KP becomes who I think he can, Tomlin will have been a big part of that.

Keeping Canada around seems foolhardy decision towards that end, however.

Can’t afford to mess up KP’s development so he better be right.

Simms could still be brought back the tender was 2.6 million which is what gunner cap hit is
They can extend MT and Jack to open up more space.
They had 114 million in cap space in 24 a week ago so they will be fine.
The offense of 11 is under contract for 2 more years they brought in a G and will probably get a swing T and draft a c of the future

Exactly my point.

Tomlin has a not small history with character problem players that he kept in line over long periods and got enormous production from.

You claim Tomlin got the best out of Roth?? Well that's certainly a take

Not sure many coaches could have gotten more out of Ben. Rodgers has been through multiple coaches and has 1 Super Bowl.
The organization the gm said was the unquestioned leader of the team made him the 3rd highest paid player in the nfl. He was not big on film study working out he hated play action and relied heavily on improvisation and instinct

I know nothing about him but looks like he’s been a starter for every team he’s played for and has decent stats. So they’re replacing Bush and Spillane with Holcomb and Roberts — nothing crazy but seems like a slight upgrade which is nice.
