I'm a huge defender of Pickett in part due to this

I met Pickett at a mixer between the Pitt hockey team and football team back in like 2017. Needless to say, I've been biased towards him since.
I have mutual buddies with Pickett but have never met him (I think I might see him at a bachelor party/wedding this summer if training camp permits) and by all accounts he’s a completely normal dude. Everyone likes him a lot. Guy is the anti-Ben.

Isn't that the nature of the pick though? You know you're probably going to be out of outstanding prospects but you're still close enough that's what you're hoping for and measuring against, and therefore most guys available at 17 aren't guys you're quite comfortable with?

I've seen people making good cases for the OT at Pitt as a developmental tackle - familiarity, and good traits that will be undervalued due to recent injuries.
Yeah I agree but I’d want there to be more upside than I think JPJ has. He is a terrific football player in all phases but as a pure corner idk how he translates. Worried about him struggling vs deep speed and quick route runners. He also has zero ball skills. The grabbiness is real.

But he also has good traits and is sticky.

It’s hard to know what to make of him but I like Forbes and others more just from a tape perspective.

Forbes is so light weight though. He would get obliterated against Chubb or Perrine or really any running back. He better be Deion with the cover skills cause he won't be sticking his nose in to tackle.

Kid from Maryland profiles like a Steeler CB, if past profiles mean anything with a new player personnel regime. He falls outside the top tier among most scouts so I wonder where he’ll be available. Not sure I would be comfortable with him as the CB we get unless one of the tackles falls to 17.

Gotcha.

I do worry about those things from simple profile reading. It reads like he might be the best CB prospect in the draft at simple pass prevention in a 5 yard radius but that's not a CB1.

Forbes reads like he'd be considered a top 15 lock if he was 190 lbs. If I was Weidl I'd really be looking hard at the tape for days when he was against big men and see how he coped. Could be a huge bargain at 32.

Quality signing and an improvement. Makes drafting the guard from Florida, O'Cyrus Torrence, far less likely.

If they like their starters at Tackle then you better be prepared to see a ton of the backup QB. KP is gonna get wrecked again

The two hits that knocked Pickett out were because of Dotson. LG is a arguably a bigger need than tackle and you’re not going to find an upgrade over Moore in FA unless you throw crazy money at Brown.

Kenny is very much a down to earth guy, which is completely opposite of what Ben was. I have seen Kenny out around town, and he very much would rather just be amongst his friends at the bar than roped off like Ben wanted to be.

I actually live in the same community Ben moved to after he moved out of Washington Landing, and he used to throw his Ben-a-palooza's at. He moved out to Sewickley a few years ago, but his exploits around here were infamous.

This is the most likeable Steelers roster I can remember. Kenny, Najee, Minkah, TJ, and Cam are all great guys for the community.

Hate to harp on it, but our issues on the Oline weren't run blocking related. It was pass pro that was an issue
Actually they were better at pass blocking they finished 12th.
They need a guard center that gets to the 2nd level in the zone blocking scheme. They did a ton of duo blocking because doctson like foster is a road grader but doctson is slow out of the snap and struggles in pass blocking
Kenny felt pressure that wasn’t there and stepped into sacks like a rookie. He said he struggled with play action and getting under center cause he didn’t do it much in college.

we get the run going, that should open up a lot.
