Well there’s the CB signing. That’s kind of out of no where. He used to be one of the best in the game but I don’t know how he’s played lately.

The only silver lining is that cornerback was commonly mocked to the Lions at 6 so maybe this prevents them from taking one.

I don’t know though. He was their best outside and slot corner so it’s a huge blow.

Lions need help at all defensive positions. Regardless of this signing.

However this might give them the opportunity to trade down. Unless say Carter falls in their lap at #6.

He’s too old…we need some young guys

If we can manage to land Gonzalez, putting him across from Peterson would be the best thing for him. I honestly think Peterson could pay 4-5 more years if he moved to safety. He's not the MVP level player he was years ago, but he's probably the best corner we've had since we signed Haden.

My gut says this is a name upgrade but a quality downgrade. For a corner, an age starting with "3" isn't good.

Also, can’t emphasis enough about what JTG stated. The impact he’ll have on whatever CB we draft or any others we bring in should be a substantial benefit. The guy is one of the greatest of all time at that position.

It’s 2 years as well.

I’m really curious to see their plan at linebacker. The Edwards, Pratt, and David Long deals all would have made a ton of sense for the Steelers.

Very interesting. I haven't really watched him in years. Hope he still has that special.

Remember when kevy asked them to pass on Bush and get Pratt in the 4th?? cool stuff

Yeah, everyone is having a conniption fit and the first day isn't over yet. I'm gonna wait to release my outrage til the end of the week.

I have faith in Khan and Weidle.
I trust your outrage will look like this?

I wonder if this makes offensive line more likely with their first round pick at 17. It seems that they just may miss out on the top three tackles at 17.

Yeah, I get that they still need another defensive back, but this draft is deep with them and they have a couple of second round picks to dip into to go there. Not as much on the line.

Great that they had that run against weak teams at the end of the year wasn't it? One less win and they certainly would have had one of the three.

We're getting Peezy's kid. Accept it and deal with it. And that's an absolute fact.

It would be a good pick at least, haha.
I wouldn't hate it.

But if one of the three tackles fall to 17 or even the Florida guard, that would be the better value pick. They can get a defensive back in round 2 or 3. I am less sure about a lineman that will be much of an improvement.

I dunno fam. For me the main difference between Peterson and Sutton is that the need for a young ascending talent in two years time just shot up. If anything, I think this points to DB being that little bit more likely.

I just hope they take the value where ever it is. If it breaks OT-DB, no worries. If it breaks DB-OG, no worries. Personally little interest in Torrence here. Feels like Meyer's scheme needs OGs that move better.

The only "need" that seems to be there right now to me is ILB. Feels like they need to do something there quick.

All three positions need addressing.

Will be addressed in fact.

But given the quality depth at defensive back in this draft let's hope that the draft breaks to take a tackle first. I am fine with the best guard on the board too.

We have seen what happens when the Steelers reach for a position of need.
