The Claypool trade just keeps looking worse for Chicago and better for the Steelers. Chicago traded what is basically a 1st round pick (this year) for a guy that’s 3rd on their depth chart at the position. I’m predicting the Steelers sign Tremaine Edmunds today and I’m also predicting that Skoronski falls because teams will be stupid and be worried about his short arms and the Steelers will secure their LT in the draft

would love for the Steelers to land Edmunds but I'm not going to hold my breath.

Justin Herbert can actually throw the football well… and he doesn’t play a style of football that leads to him being more likely to get injured. Lamar Jackson wants $240 million guaranteed even though he hasn’t finished the last 2 regular seasons and quit on his team last year by sitting out a playoff game that he could have played in. People aren’t going to jump at giving him huge guaranteed money with all of those things. Arizona was stupid for giving Kyler that deal
He can throw the football and is 500 as a starter with one play off loss.
Lamar has less interceptions and has played 2 more seasons

this is an extremely deep MLB FA market they will get someone and draft someone
I want Jones from UGA but looking at the secondary as and the current DL i don’t see a LT in the first 2 picks

We need Sutton back above anything else right now, IMO. Then work on DL, OL and ILB.

I’m actually excited about this year’s process.

Lamar has also missed more games and quit on his team. There is a reason teams would be lining up to pay Burrow and Herbert and Lawrence. It’s because they are elite QB’s who don’t play a style that is predicated more on running and increased risk of injury. Why would any team want to pay Lamar when they just watched him miss key games down the home stretch each of the last two seasons and then skip a playoff game that he could have actually played in?

A little weird the team hasnt done anything outside of cutting Jackson. No re-signings, no restructurings.

I’m guessing maybe they have some handshake agreements to restructure guys but won’t do it unless they can actually agree to deals with some free agents.

No point in restructuring if you don’t end up needing the cap space.

And yet Hurts is getting paid. Teams are lining up because they can get them on cheaper long term deals since they have the 5th year option still. The ravens waited until the last minute that’s how you overpay. After the draft Lamar will get 200 million guaranteed and the ravens will be without any Qb but have picks in 24 and 25. Lamar will be in Atlanta

I’m a Carolina Panthers fan, long story, and we finally have something to look forward to.

I was wondering if any football nerds have an opinion on Stroud vs Young?

I think they want Richardson to be honest. Just based on the timing of the trade, right after he blew up the combine, it feels like they saw that and moved up to make sure they could get him. Before his combine he was most likely going to fall to them at 9, but once he put on that performance I bet he moved up some teams boards (including Carolina) so they felt they had to get ahead of teams to get him

Wondering if the Steelers don't address LT in FA vs draft?
Outside of Orlando Brown (who I think will cost more than what the Steelers want to spend) is there even another good LT available?

They’ve already said it won’t be AR. Or at least what’s being reported. As good as his combine was there’s a lot more that goes into being a QB.

Stroud is the perfect Qb for what Wright and what he likes to use. They will use tons of play action tons og Qb movement and hae him do Wentz stuff. I fully expect Carson to be the backup to Stroud. If they were going for AR they could have gotten him at 5 to 8

Sam Darnold is perfect example of a talented player being forced to play for bad organizations.

Would not be surprised one bit if his career peaks later, like a Rich Gannon.

Darnold and Tribsky are the same player. Sam has a slower release rate than you would like. He is very good with play action and run based system. You can see them use their legs to pick up occasional 1st down. They are solid backups like bridgewater

I don't see that. Trubisky is a better athlete, Darnold is a better thrower down field. As far as Trubisky goes, I thought the games he played after his benching, he looked great. It was almost like a switch had gone off and he wasn't playing overly cautious any longer. I love having him here, he's definitely one of the top 20-25 qbs in the league.

Damn I really thought they needed to keep Sutton. Their secondary is ugly right now.

It’s a way bigger need than LT imo.

I've seen speculation that the Steelers are actually more focused on bringing in a new CB with their 1st than help to the OL, and losing Sutton makes me believe that speculation more.

They're probably going to take Porter Jr with their 1st.

That one hurts

The only silver lining is that cornerback was commonly mocked to the Lions at 6 so maybe this prevents them from taking one.

I don’t know though. He was their best outside and slot corner so it’s a huge blow.

Given how many 3 CB sets they run, doing both would have been very smart.
