I am curious if they will move Moore to G if they draft a LT or if they will bump him to RT? If he and Green are both on the bench this season, that draft class really took a hit.

I'm optimistic Peterson will be good, but it seems like a lot of people are expecting him to also be a mentor for whatever CB they draft in R1 in addition to being a starter next year. He was apparently a terrific leader for the Vikings DBs, so it wouldn't surprise me if the Steelers took a CB and had Peterson mentor him for the next 2 years.

It's the same idea as what they did with Trubisky and Pickett, but Peterson will likely not be outplayed and demoted to a backup like Trubisky did

Honestly when it comes to the Steelers and nepotism I feel like the main thing to say is it could be worse. We're talking about how they might put a priority on a guy with family ties to the team when he's a completely sensible pick, not "oh hey they named a college lacrosse player a coach because he's the HC's son".

Yeah like I think they need to use their 1st to improve the OL, but CB is a big enough need and Porter Jr is a legit pick with where their 1st sits that I honestly can't even be mad about it.

I think Porter Jr makes a lot of sense (as in a prediction for what the Steelers will do) because of the nepotism connection, but taking that out entirely, I think taking Porter Jr where they'll probably be taking him isn't even an issue.

I don't want Porter here at this point because I'm over all the damn chat and don't want to hear it for the next four or so years minimum but really that's ridiculous of me. Go by the rankings and Porter's a guy that we should consider ourselves damn lucky to pick.

Also I might be the only person saying this but I'm not that bothered if they don't use the 1st on the OL. I don't think LT is a must, and once I think that I reckon they can get their value at RT/IOL in the second and third rounds no problem. Wouldn't be a huge surprise if the CB depth dwindles quick between 17 and 32 too.

I went to Penn State and watch all their games. Love JPJ but idk. He’s a tough eval. I’d be more comfortable at 32 with that pick than 17.

I could see the Steelers ignoring OT early and upgrading at LG. Fine by me but I’d want them to grab a development tackle if that was the case.

Isn't that the nature of the pick though? You know you're probably going to be out of outstanding prospects but you're still close enough that's what you're hoping for and measuring against, and therefore most guys available at 17 aren't guys you're quite comfortable with?

I've seen people making good cases for the OT at Pitt as a developmental tackle - familiarity, and good traits that will be undervalued due to recent injuries.

I'm a huge defender of Pickett in part due to this

I met Pickett at a mixer between the Pitt hockey team and football team back in like 2017. Needless to say, I've been biased towards him since.

Are we sure JPJ doesn't profile better as a safety? His profile screams safety conversion to me.

Minor note - but if the Titans gave three years and 29m to Dillard, maybe they're not jonesing for LT quite as hard. Maybe.

Honestly wouldn’t be surprising if Green is a preseason cut
I wouldn't be either. I think Mason Cole and Chase Daniels are two very good pieces to solidify the line, and it helps that they both play all IOL positions.

Hopefully the Peterson signing works out. The age is a concern but he may be the kind of freakish generational talent at his position that just holds up longer than most. I just hope he doesn't turn into the Steelers version of Jeff Carter where his game falls off a cliff. NFL contracts are easier to get out of than the type of NHL contract the Pens gave Carter though. Thankfully not nearly as much risk in signing a guy a year or two too long in the NFL.

Seems like Peterson is going to be a stop-gap and mentor to whatever CB we draft. I'd be fine with any of the top 3 CB's. I do like Porter's kid. He may be the 3rd ranked CB in the draft and people will claim nepotism but he has a lot going for him. He's 6'2" with 34 inch arms (tied for the longest arms of any DB at combine) and has 4.4 speed. In the 2022 season he had the 2nd most pass breakups in the Big 10 and allowed zero TD passes, which was the fewest of any Big 10 CB. There's a lot to like with him despite whatever nepotism people claim.

They could go a lot of ways in round one. One argument against CB to me is that it's a deep position in this draft. You may like the kind of CB you get in round 2 or 3 over some of the less deep positions. I'd still love to trade down at some point too since we don't have 5th or 6th round picks this year. It would be a long gap between our round 4 pick and round 7.

The nepotism claims are a reach. Kid is a legit talent.

If we allow Peterson to play more zone and ball hawk like he did last year, it’ll be a good fit. He and Minkah would be scary back there in that regard. He plays the run well too

I'm trying to put the nepotism thing aside. AGain, I'm not a draft guru or anything like that but from tape I see a guy who is extremely grabby. Feel like he'll be a walking holding machine in the NFL.

And good point on him playing the run well. Steelers love themselves a CB who can do that.

- The potential Jets-GB deal with Rodgers is intriguing because if it involves the Jets first rounder, it could help the Steelers.

GB just restructured Bakhtiari, so unlike the Jets I can’t see them going LT.

- Bears are having a hell of an off season, obviously depends on what they do with their newly acquired draft capital, but landing Edmunds AND Edwards, wow.

- Dre’Mont Jones and Zach Allen got paid. Kind of assumed they would be out of the Steelers reach, but damn.

Guess Ogunjobi is their best bet at this point… maybe.

I figured Jones would get paid but Allen is just an extreme overpay. Guy has had 3 less than mediocre seasons and then one decent season while also not being able to stay healthy. I thought he would go for 8-10mil per season.

Kind of an interesting day for pro days with Oregon (Gonzalez), Northwestern (Skoronski), and Clemson (Bresee and Simpson) all having their pro days today.

It looks like Tomlin and Khan are at the Clemson pro day so read into that however you want. Typically, if Tomlin and Colbert weren’t at your pro day, you weren’t going to be the first round pick.

My guess is they likely sent an ol coach and db coach to those pro days.

Clemson has more quantity of player to look at and ones that are more likely to be still on the board

Peterson is today's Charles Woodson. Guys like him can play for eternity if they would want - their role would just have to be diminished, but guys like them will always be a positive in the lineup, in my opinion.

I think a corner absolutely drops to us, and we very well may have a shot at a corner that we never would have had a shot at in a normal draft year because this class is really deep, and a lot of the teams ahead of us have grouped needs like QB and LT.

I think dropping down could be a really awesome opportunity for us.

He's grabby, but a lot of the time he doesn't have to be. I think that can get coached out of him. It's different when he's getting smoked athletically, but many times he's not, it's just a comfort thing for him that he needs to knock off.
