I appreciate that. I have no problems talking about race since I'm in HR lol
NFL (like most major sports leagues) is a very old boys club. That club is full of rich white people...you know where I'm going with this.
That being said I don't think the Miami owner was racist. I believe if a white coach didn't tank, he too would have been fired for not playing ball.
In short, don't conflate racism with stupid business practices.
Note that I do think that black coaches get a shorter leash across the league vs white. So there is a problem, but not 1 that's going to be solved/addressed with this lawsuit. This suit is gonna get tossed quite quickly methinks.
It's an opportunistic money grab that will most likely be successful.
I'll find both funny and ironic that a corporation that is always lecturing to their customers gets hammered with such a suit, no matter how frivolous.
Improved what? We can start at C and RG. Mason Cole and James Daniels are massive upgrades, in both running and pass blocking, to Green and Turner. Chuks is what he is - a very average RT, but Moore Jr, if he is a legit NFL player should be markedly better his sophomore season. We have some serious burst at WR now with Pickens and Austin - YAC guys who can turn nothing plays into something.
The only massive hole before the offseason that is still a hole is CB. Everything else has kind of been filled. Jack is way better than Schobert. We signed some competition for Edmunds. The WR corps is better. The OL is better. We need a nose tackle. That is the glaring need along with CB.

Matt Canada is going to prove to be a mistake, I'm confident in that. The beauty of this is we have literally drafted guys to fit his system. If this fails, it's because of him. The downside is...we fit guys to fit into his system, so the next OC has to have similar leanings as him or this roster is in a world of hurt.
The NFL announced that after a 60-day review, independent investigators led by former Securities and Exchange Commission chair Mary Jo White "determined that none of the allegations [made by Hue Jackson] could be substantiated."
The NFL has hired 10 new on-field officials, including Lo van Pham, the first Asian American to officiate in the league, and Mike Morton, a former player.
Mataeo Durant's patience was rewarded shortly after the 2022 NFL Draft came to a close. While he did not hear his name called during the draft, Durant was contacted after the draft by the Steelers, who signed him to the largest undrafted rookie free agent contract for a running back in franchise history. Durant received a $15,000 signing bonus after signing with the Steelers, according to the Pro Football Network.
During his final two seasons at Duke, Durant rushed for 2,058 yards and 17 touchdowns while averaging nearly 5.5 yards per carry. He also caught 55 passes for 480 yards and four touchdowns during his final three seasons with the Blue Devils. Durant's 1,241rushing yards last season set the school's single-season record.
One big, important and hopefully by now, obvious reason the Pittsburgh Steelers had Kenny Pickett as their #1 QB on their board was his pro readiness. Picking the quarterback of the future is a difficult enough endeavor. Being able to see a bit clearer through the fog brought Mike Tomlin a word...
The issue I have with those throws is that in the NFL, many of them are picks. He's going to have a really rough first year, I think, but I have faith he will be able to work through it and be a decent starter. I could see him having 20 picks his first year as he gets used to driving the ball against pro corners. These little flicks he does when rolling out aren't going to cut it in the NFL, IMO. That was the big difference for me between him and Willis. When Willis rolls out and releases the ball, it's a rocket. That's going to save Willis, if he can be accurate doing it...which is the question with him. That aspect saved Mahomes when he started. Was Mahomes super polished? No, but what saved him was he could roll out and unleash bombs downfield.
I want Pickett to work out. I like him as a person, I think he's great for the city, he has a Pittsburgh personality, and it could be a match made in heaven. I really would hate to see his star lose some of its shine in Pittsburgh because he comes in and shits the bed.

Mahomes was extremely polished as a passer coming out - again he had almost as many passing yards his final season as Willis had his entire career.
I just don’t think having a cannon arm makes them in any way similar.
Willis will likely survive, then thrive with his legs and eventually take a similar running QBs path where he gets figured out and then struggles when he’s forced to be an actual passer.
I want zero parts of that.
KP’s biggest issue won’t be learning to drive the ball IMHO, he will be more than fine with that.
Unless the NFL ball is harder for him to grip, he has above avg arm strength.
His issues will be learning to stay in the pocket and operating under center. Both could cause major issues and are my primary concerns.
KP loves to bail early and roll right, and those gunslinger throws across his body he loves to make, will get him in a lot of trouble in the NFL.
He also has to get a lot more unpredictable with the side he rolls to when he escapes pressure.
He made some nice plays rolling to his left, but he’s clearly uncomfortable throwing off platform when he rolls that way.
He also operated out of the gun an inordinate amount of times. While I didn’t see any major issues when he had traditional drop backs, he’s still raw in that area IMHO.
Reading an NFL D on a 3,5,7 drop is an entirely different animal than operating out of the gun.
i think having an experienced NFL QB to compete with Pickett will be the best thing for his development. he can get acclimated to the NFL game without being thrown to the wolves immediately.
The one benefit i will give Willis is that he has so little experience that there is at least theoretical room for improvement. He didnt play QB until senior year of HS. Was a mop up guy for two years at auburn and played 2 at Liberty.
Willis to me was the type of guy we could have drafted like 4-5 years ago. Ben still here and getting a project to see what he can turn into. If he sucks, just move on.

We aren’t in win now mode so if they took Willis he could have redshirted this year as QB3 then back up Mitch in 23. They might still do that with Pickett
