Pickett is a substantially better prospect right now than Rudolph was when he was getting drafted. That's why Rudolph was a mid 3rd rounder while Pickett has been suggested as a top-10 pick.

Pickett's mobility is way better than Rudolph's and Pickett doesn't have a noodle arm like Rudolph does.
The bills considered Mason in round 1 if they didn’t draft Allen. If Pickett doesn’t go to Carolina whose coach recruited him he is not a top 10 pick he wouldn’t be a 1st round pick in last years draft. Scouts said he was throwing watermelons during the senior bowl week. He isn’t more mobile than Mason and Mason threw for more yards and more ypa so if he is has a weak arm what does Pickett have

People knocking Rudolph's arm strength are weird. It is his best thing. It is his processing of the game where he is throwing it off his back foot that makes it look weak. But that is not a "noodle arm" issue.

You are way off base with this most. Go to 1:19, not many QB's make this throw. And he has a ton more mobility than Rudolph. Pickett may not have a gunslinger's arm, but he has a good arm. Very accurate, great mechanics.........dude is a pro. I would love to get him.

I also hate his 2 step drops.

Something never talked about is that near death hit he took against the Ravens. I swear, he looks to process information a tad slower ever since he got whacked.

Mason's college #s make Pickett's look pedestrian. And he was far more consistent.

Comparing Big 12 qb numbers to anyone else is >>>>>>>>> what's the word I'm looking for.............

Numbers only tell a part of the story.

Again, I loved the Rudolph pick, I was excited to see him play when Ben got injured. He actually looked pretty good up until that dirty Ravens hit. They know next to nothing about the brain. Could be that one hit changed Mason's trajectory forever.

Right and the next guy is also at risk since the Head Clown likes to hire these minor league coordinators that can't scheme themselves out of a paper bag let alone even a blocking scheme to protect the QB.

I mean, that's a generalization based on the myth that no one plays/played defense in the B12. It was more about the offenses just being really freaking efficient and more uptempo. But, that goes back to the "system" argument used against some QBs.

Even then, still doesn't explain away his consistency vs Pickett's one year wonder.

I think anyone that watched both in college, outside Pitt homers, would tell you Rudolph was a better college QB.

The fact that none of the QB’s are going to go in the top 10 when you have teams that desperately need a QB tells you what you need to know about the class. It’s just not good. Also, yes no one in Pittsburgh would be clamoring for Pickett the way they are if he didn’t go to Pitt. If he went to UCF no one would want anything to do with him as a first round pick

But it's not about who had the better college career. Rather who has the better skillset that will translate to the NFL. It's not an exact science, no matter who's the expert, it's still an educated guess.

Right, but outside of combine type activities (which are also not exactly 100% predictive) there isn't much else to go on. And by all accounts Pickett's draft eval events have been ... eh

But those evals miss all of the time. Take a look at Brady, terrible evals. But now in hindsight, go back and watch his gamefilm from Michigan (especially the one from Happy Valley) You watch that now and you ask yourself immediately how did this guy ever fall to the 6th round?????

So, we're back to the wildly inconsistent on field performances of a super senior against maybe the worst ACC in history then. Perfect.

Agree that Mason's arm isn't a problem- he can throw ropes if needed and delivers appropriate trajectory.

For me his biggest issue is pocket awareness. He does not feel pressure and therefore does not step away as needed.

I don't think that can be taught so therefore to me MR is a career backup in this league.

Yes. That same one that is two years older, unhealthy, and one of its key components clearly has mental health issues.

This isn't some gotcha. Shelf life of excellence in the NFL is short aside from QB.
And they invested last year in Loudermouth and got ADams. Wormley Davis are still good depth. Dulac chat today saying they would go 2 DL in 4 rounds made me laugh especially since he said they wouldn’t bring in another edge rusher. This team needs a 3rd OLb badly someone who can push Highsmith
