More weird developments
Not to be a dick but this is a couple days old and was posted higher up on this page.

I guess I just don’t think of this as a ‘development’ until we get corroboration.

Posted in the wrong thread before, but reports are firing up for the Steelers taking a QB much like they did with their interest in Najee. I really hope they are not true as I think Trubisky could be an answer to QB here, at least as much as any QB in this draft could.

I also think Cole Strange is a guy the Steelers should look really hard at. He gives me Creed Humphrey vibes. He's obviously more of a project than Humphrey was, but he's taller, has really long arms, gigantic hands, and a really nasty disposition. It also has been noted how intelligent he is.

I've been a fan of Linderbaum for years, and going into this season, he was the guy I wanted more than any other player. His measurables flat out scare me in the AFC North. He has two of the shortest arms I think I've ever seen on a center prospect and he is 290. I think he'd fit in Canada's system really well, but I don't think he fits in this division really well.

Probably best to accept it's going to happen and hope they don't trade up for their 1st to do so.

Yeah it’d be pretty surprising if the pick wasn’t one of Willis/Pickett/Corral/Howell/Ridder. I’m just hoping it’s either Corral or Pickett.

It’s not going to be Pickett they already have him in Mitch. I think Ridder is the closest to Allen and young Ben if you believe that you can fix his accuracy. Corral coming from a kiffen offense doesn’t translate well to the nfl.

Everyone has their preferences for which of the QBs to draft. I do too but I’m more concerned with when. I don’t want them to draft a QB in round one. That removes some guys from consideration so be it.

Pickett might be better than Howell or Corral but he’s not better than Mitch. So, IMO obviously, better Howell or Strong in 2/3 than Pickett/Willis in 1.

I left Ridder out because I had assumed he might be in that round 2 group but I don’t know what to make of the recent buzz on him.

Maybe I'm missing something, but as best I've been told, Trubisky is most of the tools but no toolbox under pressure, right?

If so, I don't see the issue with taking a guy with the same physical tools in the first and hoping they can build a better toolbox by developing him better, and let Trubisky take the brunt of being on an average at best team until the kid develops. I'm not super-excited by them doing that as I'm not excited by any of the guys in the first, but it's a reasonable play if they see talent they believe in.

It's not like going QB in 1st vs DL/OL/SS in the 1st and QB in 2nd/3rd is going to radically change the team's chances this coming season anyway.

It doesn't matter which QB they draft, it will be career suicide to whoever gets selected. When Clownada gets fired next year, they'll just hire another circus clown to take his place.

Don’t think you can build a good enough “toolbox” for someone who’s not showing it by now…it’s why football IQ and accuracy are the top traits for QBs…obviously you need a good enough arm and enough mobility but first two are most important…Steelers don’t see that and get enamored with physical traits…one reason I see QB in the first as a waste lol

So the guy who got Nathan peterman drafted and they guy who helped develop Eli manning aren’t capable of developing a QB?

It's much more justifiable to die on the Tomlin hill than the Matt Canada hill.

Matt Canada's continued employment is indefensible. Frankly him getting anointed the job in the first place given his spotty-at-best track record is indefensible.

That wasn’t Canada offense the players have admitted it. The Dolphins wanted to hire him before we promoted him to oc. The offense was what Ben the 18 year vet was comfortable with. We know Ben hasn’t liked play action and sucks at RPo and has since Haley was here. The offense was the same they ran in 2020 with Fitchner with motion and jet sweeps

OK, whatever. He is a career climber who builds hype around himself and then jumps to the next thing before expectations catch up to him. It's the Peter principle - "everyone is eventually promoted to their level of incompetence." You'd have thought that we saw it at LSU after Pitt, but someone on the North Shore really liked him.

His employment here is just dumb.

Meanwhile, Butler who not long ago admitted he doesn't call or call any plays.

So he just stands there.

Clowns, clowns they're everywhere.
