As far as CBs go, doesnt anyone find it ridiculous that this front office is very good at finding pro CBs and terrible at draft amateur CBs. Its weird right?
Without checking the front office/scouting setup…

It’s probably two different groups. Usually there are amateur scouts and pro scouts. Pro scouts will often be tasked to watch upcoming opponents but they also check out rosters for talent. Maybe the amateur scouts just don’t have a good sense of how guys will transition to the pro game.

Although there is almost alway turnover, especially among amateur scouts. So how that hasn’t changed is a mystery.

Or is it?

They definetely have different scout at each level but the stark difference is stupefying.

You would imagine the core tenants of what they're looking for is consistent but the results are completely opposite ends of the spectrum. Its almost unexplainable

Having a better record of signing proven NFL players vs. unproven college players seems to make sense :dunno:

The better comparison is drafting DB's vs. drafting other positions. They failed miserably with Burns and Davis (in the same draft no less), but beyond that I don't know if it is much different than other positions. I'm sure they missed on other guys, too, but they did draft Sutton, Norwood, and however they got Hilton before he played anywhere else.

Every year there are 35 guys in the top 20. DeCastro, Pouncey, Heyward...all guys who were supposed to be gone well before we picked.

That being said, I agree with you. I just think someone is going to drop to us, and I think it's going to be a really good player. We just can't get too cute with it. I think they get entirely too cute. Green instead of Meinerz was a perfect example.

Honestly - would love for Colbert to continue turning heads with a trade down to late 1st or early 2nd & get more picks. I really really like the talent available through pick 90 or so, and it matches up with Steeler needs.

Welp. We aren’t winning shit for 10+ years. Division is stacked and the AFC is ridiculously stacked.

Why doesn’t anyone want to be in the NFC?

Watson to the Browns in a change of events. Steelers are going to need a hell of a defense in this division going forward. We're really going to have to find a big time QB of our own sooner than later too.

Oh shit well Watson, Jackson, and Burrow for the next ten years will be fun.

Steelers better build up a nasty defense and be super aggressive trying to find a good QB.

Woof. Didn't want to see that, but at the same time, that contract is f***ing huge and never underestimate the Browns ability to f*** things up.

How many teams would offer that contract and those draft picks for a guy that is still in a civil legal battle?

Isn't he also subject to a lengthy suspension by the NFL?

Wide Receiver is definitely in play early in the draft. I wouldn’t mind one of the Ohio State WRs. Skyy Moore in the second feels like a guarantee if he’s there.

Olave in the first, Phildarian Mathis in the second would be sold. Could maybe snag a guy like Ty Fryfogle as a third day pick to fill out WR

I've seen a few mocks that have us taking Williams from 'Bama.

Juju to the Chiefs. Very classy statement from him about Pittsburgh and Steelers fans on the way out. I think KC is a good fit for him. He killed it early in his career when he had AB to pull coverage away from him and he'll have that in KC with Hill. He was really miscast here as a #1WR after AB left. I wish him well.

It'll be interesting to see where Baker winds up. I know it won't happen but it would be hilarious if he tried to force a trade here to Pittsburgh.

The Watson thing is huge though. It's frustrating since the division was already hard enough. Also the fact I think the Steelers could have landed him themselves with Flores and Tomlin here but they didn't want to for numerous reasons.
