I doubt it will be much of a battle. Haskins would be cut if Tomlin didn’t have a hardon for him. Rudolph will be out of the league next year. It’s Trubisky’s job unless he gets hurt

Haskins might not even make it to the final 53 they can cut him with no dead money but they will take 4 guys to camp. I am waiting to see the money Mitch got but he said it was between us and the Giants.

Trubisky is worth a shot. Probably the best reclamation project available in this UFA QB class.

Best part is at least we're not trading a draft pick for Jimmy G now.

I really hope the Browns don't land Watson though. They aren't favored to get him but between him, Burrow and Lamar it would be hard not to wind up in the cellar in this division for the better part of the next decade if it happens.

I think these QB's can get us through next season. We'll still draft a QB but we don't have to force a QB pick in round one if the value isn't there.

Apparently Watson "doesn't want to play in a cold weather city".

Not sure how much of that is true vs. digging for an excuse to not play in Cleveland.

Not to be a negative Nancy, but when I see accuracy problems with a qb prospect, that's a hard pass. Gruden was spot on with his scouting. All you're doing is adding another sub QB... it will only confuse the room further, not elevate it.

Any QB that's any good isn't generally available. He's probably better than Rudolph and that's all they could hope to accomplish.
I disagree with this approach because I want to go full tank but Rooney will NEVER do that.

So at least it'll be fun to watch a QB run for his life. It'll be just like the late 90's Steeler teams with Kordell.

Good luck to him. Personally hope it's treated as a reason to not reach for a QB, and build a strong team out of what falls our way.

It’ll be fine. It’s rare to go from HoF to whatever we’ll see next season. But it’s not all doom and gloom. Just let it play out.

What stands out to me is that the Franchise doesn't have a plan. This is why the owner should have hired a GM + coach with said plan.

edit: saw the Giants comments; scary how these two Families owners and Franchises have been tied to the hip and both going through the same malaise under their new 3rd generation owners.

I disagree- the franchise does have a plan.

It is "stay relevant and squeak into the playoffs so I can get additional money". So Tomlin is the perfect coach to execute said plan.
Rooney loves mediocrity as much as Tomlin loves attrition football

I was shocked that they made the playoffs last year, if you can call it that. It will inconceivable if they sniff .500 next year.

The pats didn’t have a plan when Brady left. Tampa didn’t have a plan when Brady retired. The packers didn’t have plan they wasted a pick on love. Denver didn’t have plan when Manning retired.

Lol the schedule is easier next year than this year. They play the NfC south and AfC east vegas and Philly they will win 10 games

What are the terms on Mitch?

If this is like a $15M contract I'm lukewarm. If it's $8-10M cap hit I'm all for it.

The Pats certainly did have a plan to do a rebuild year and save a ton of Cap space in order to be FA players once Brady left

Trubisky is Cliff Stoudt. Maybe we’ll draft Mark Malone in the first round this year or next. Steelers have a head coach past his prime, there is a war with Russia and the Steelers QBs suck, Hooray 80’s!

No they told players to opt out and went 7-9 with cam then spent a ton of money 130 million in free agency to finish a half game ahead of us but got their Qb at 15 after the Newton season. We can do something similar

I don’t think it’s a lot nothing is reported which is usually a good sign for teams since the agents usually leak terms.

True.

I'm higher on Rudolph than many but his status in the org may drop once Colbert leaves. Likely that Colbert's replacement doesn't think highly of him.

But honestly, who cares? Trubisky will be relatively bad but still an upgrade on Mason or Ben.

I don’t understand why so many are shocked the draft sucks they weren’t going to trade multiple 1sts and cap space for Rodgers Watson Wilson and he is the best of a bad free agent group

I think it’s comp between them and since they went 8-8 with Duck and Mason believe they will win 10 games with Mason and Tribsky

Lucky AF with an outstanding defense though. Right now we have Cam, Watt, Minkah and ??????. I think Witherspoon and Highsmith are functional starters but a lot of open questions regardless.
