Re all the talk of offensive expectations...
Yeah, I never expected the offence to be great.
16th for points scored is arguably a bit of an overachievement. 22nd for offensive touchdowns per game at 2.1 is more like expectations (and a reasonable tick up from last year's gruesome 1.7 per game, although still not good).
However, some parts of the execution leave me concerned. The failures on 4th down (which stats suggest is more frequent than not with Arthur Smith). Being 29th in the league with 48.21% conversion for red zone touchdowns (which was a problem in Atlanta, albeit a massive strength in Tennessee). The constant failure to get the team to understand their blocking assignments. That team being a worse rushing team than last year just shouldn't have happened. I guess might as well give him a second year to show what he can do with more experience with the unit and hopefully more talent if he's not going himself, but there's things going wrong beyond talent.
Still, it's nothing like a team that rests everything on its defence getting blown out like that, no.
