Disappointed here Ogre, usually I have nothing but good things to say about you. Not now. :p:;)

I'm more pumped for OSU every single year compared to the Steelers. The buzz going around this team is big, really big. Hasn't been like this since 2006 when Troy Smith won the Heisman. ****ing pumped.

to be fair, I really don't care about college sports. But as a Yinzer I was raised to hate all things Ohio. Also I really dislike Terrelle Pryor.

But he's practically a Yinzer!

Right, which is what allows me to really dislike him. I have never disliked anyone for anything they have done in college sports because I don't watch or follow college sports. I don't sports dislike him in the way I dislike Tom Brady or Flyers players. I dislike him as a real person.

I know the Pittsburgh Power are the red-headed stepchild of the Pittsburgh sports team...but at least Power is...okay, it's an awful name...but it's not Kiss.

Kiss once again proves they will put their name on anything in the hopes of selling a couple more of their ****** albums by buying an AFL team to play out of the Honda Center next year - the LA KISS (yes, all caps...good job Ottawa REDBLACKS, you started a terrible trend).

Needless to say I hope they fail and they lose all of their money and finally disappear from the public eye. With some things I just can't help but look to the previous generation and go 'what the ****, guys?' Kiss is near the top of that list.

So the two fantasy leagues from this board are both up and running and both only have 7 members so far.

If anyone is interested in joining the league that I run just PM me your email address. Karnage420 runs the other league and invites to last year's participants have already been sent out there as well.

the champ is ready. I completely forgot I won that league with a losing record in the regular season limping into the playoffs on a 4 game losing streak

The All-Purpose Football/Soccer Thread

for all things Football (not American Football)/Soccer: Premier League, La Liga, Champions League, German Bundesliga, international play, MLS, etc

Most other boards have one of these, and with the Premier League and La Liga starting this weekend, I figured now would be a good time.

So, what team do you support? :handclap:

when do premiere league games actually start on NBCSN? Today? Also, who should I care about? Does Pittsburgh have a televised team :sarcasm: seriously I have never followed a non-Pittsburgh sports team in any capacity but I'd love to get into premiere league.

Yeah today. Liverpool vs. Stoke is on right now, Arsenal plays at 10.

I always hear that Tottenham is a good team to follow for Americans trying to get into it. My dad was a big Newcastle fan.

It should be a great season this year with lots of changes in the management amongst the top teams including the return of the legendary Mourinho!

Meanwhile my team sits bottom of League 1 on -7 points! :D

We have so many OT threads guys... we can't do another. Let's move this into an OT Pittsburgh thread already or even just the OT thread.

And the reason is... most of the admin don't want the OT talk staying on the board anyway when we have full threads on the 2nd page dedicated to it. Let's move this to an OT thread stickied above.

In Pittsburgh we have the Riverhounds which is basically a Division 3 team (a few levels below MLS status-which in the soccer world is pretty embarassing, but hey, better than the Pittsburgh Power IMO). To my understanding though this year the Riverhounds are pretty decent, they just made the playoffs and they have a new stadium as well.

People in Spain (winner of the last World Cup and the last two Euro Cups) will tell you that the real football to watch is in La Liga, not the Premier League. This is mostly because of the rivalry between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid, who currently have the world's currently recognized two best players, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo respectively. My biased opinion would be for you to jump on the Real Madrid bandwagon , but the Premier League might be easier to follow from USA.

Not sure about NBC because I'm in Europe now, but yeah, Premier League started today. Supporters of the Premier League will say that it's a more balanced league with many competent teams (Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Man U, Chelsea, Tottenham) versus the top-heavy talent of Madrid and Barca in La Liga.

If you're really interested in starting to follow football, the FIFA videogame is a good way to get into it. Here's a legit guide on the upcoming season of Premier League:

Ya I know about the Riverhounds. Sadly, I recently moved to South Carolina. That part was mostly a joke

I just want soccer that I can watch on TV from South Carolina. As far as I know, that means premiere league.

Do you know if they plan to show games at a time that isn't in the mornings? Obviously it'd be a replay, but I'm fine with that.

Liverpool survives a late pk, and wins vs. Stoke.

Real good pace to today's game. As you would expect being the opener.

(I support Aston Villa, and Liverpool)

Liverpool got lucky. Not a big fan of the EPL but if I had to pick a team it would be Chealsea

I like the Impact in the MLS and have always been a big AC Milan fan. Dad always loved them and I kinda picked up on it

Absolutely.

As a Villa fan, I didn't expect this.

I had FIFA 2003 and I just picked Villa as my team  I liked their name and jerseys.

I haven't payed attention the the EPL for years but since it's on NBC I think I'll try to get back into it.

Arsenal off to a lousy start. Wenger now has to do something or the rest of the Arsenal fans will turn on him much quicker than Piers Morgan has over the last few years.

Yeah, it is awesome that NBC has all the games live.
