I saw Jones and zoned in there, but that wasn't just in response to your post - it's something I came across on boards and Twitter all night, and they were talking about Jarvis.
Landry...eh. We needed to draft a QB in the middle rounds. You can argue about who we drafted, but it would have been inexcusable to go through this draft without a QB and when you're talking 6th or 7th round you're talking potential 3rd stringers 99.9% of the time. Landry Jones was the last QB left in the draft with the potential to be a legitimate back-up, the next QB off the board came 3 rounds later, someone I'm very high on and very familiar with - Brad Sorensen of Southern Utah, has similar upside to Jones but a far smaller floor. Jones was really the last option there, which is what led to him being slightly over-drafted. Considering who we took in the 5th round (CB Terry Hawthorne) I don't think anyone would really have batted an eyelash had they swapped draft positions.
As it stands right now I'm very happy with the Steelers' picks through the first 5 rounds...they were all at positions of need and the value on most was really good. I still would have taken a flyer on a TE in the 6th round, though.
