Could be part of a growing trust and appreciation between them. Could be Tomlin is slow to change things and Rudolph still has questions.
Could be Rudolph knows Tomlin likes him but the rest of the decision makers don't see it that way and have Pickett as their guy. That one seems real unlikely but no way of knowing.
Still, I imagine there's some level of some sort of trust there. Hard not to be after how that month went for them. And judging from Tomlin's words at the press conference - how there's a thin line between pro bowler and back-up, how his appreciation for Rudolph grew and how he was impressed at how he jumped right in - I don't think Tomlin's bluffing about liking the player.
Years back in my late teens, I had my childhood best friend stab me in the back over a girl, simply because she liked me over him.
He was like a brother to me, and I tried to stay friends with him, but no matter what he did to regain my trust, it didn’t work out and I had to end our friendship.
It’s really, really hard to trust someone when they do you dirty, even when they try to build that trust back up with you.
Maybe as I said before MR is a guy who blows stuff off and trusts people easily, can’t rule that out.
MR was looking into the abyss of his career because of Tomlin and his lies, however.
So I’d find it incredibly hard to trust that guy ever again.
Also, KP has been extremely good in his short career during the preseason, and it’s naive to think MR could play any better than KP did this past preseason.
All ties would lean to KP.
I’m sure MR knows this and isn’t a stupid guy.
This is why I’m sure he’s only hanging around if he gets lowballed by other teams, which wouldn’t exactly floor me.
It’s really hard to know how other teams value him right now - if he had won a playoff game he would be a hot commodity though, zero doubts.
