Fair enough I guess but I think it depends on your definition of experience. Canada, Urben Meyer, Steve Spurrior(sp) had tons of years experience in college that didn't translate in the NFL.
I'm not arguing that Saturday needs to.. Idk start as a OL coach and work his way up. Tomlin was on the right track at least (DB coach then DC) but was hired way too soon imo.
Yeah I get what you’re saying and it’s fair. College experience is always tricky because guys like Meyer try to run an NfL team like a college team and treat players like they’re 18 year olds and it just doesn’t work.
Outside of the NFL, I’ve always personally hated the “You need x amount of experience to be considered for this role.” I think a lot of good people get passed up when those criteria are enforced.
But in the case of an NFL head coach, I think you do need to prove your ability at some level beyond high school.
Maybe Saturday will be awesome. But he’s very likely just a tank commander.
