Tomlin just throws out cute catch phrases, He is a Moron

I don’t think he’s a moron, just a guy who hit the coaching jackpot and has grown arrogant because he never has to fear for his job.

It’s made him lazy and unwilling to grow as a coach.

I suspect if he landed elsewhere and got fired a time or two, he’d be a much better coach than he is now IMHO.

Getting a high 2nd for Claypool is downright robbery. There’s a very real chance that the guy they draft with that pick is better than Claypool next year.

They’re going to be in a great spot to retool if they trade down with their high 1st. Get some team who’s desperate for one of the top QBs and get a ton of picks out of them.

Pretty shocked they got a 2, let alone a possible high 2.

Makes me wish they traded DJ in the off-season now seeing that value.

I was indifferent on Claypool, so at least they recouped their initial investment in Claypool.

Think he would have blown up in GB, but going to Chi with Fields has me quite confident none of us will regret this deal.
They need someone for KP to throw to. Its DJ GP and Muth as the top 3 targets this year and Austin joining them next year

Sources: The #Steelers aren’t done. They are finalizing a trade for #Commanders CB Will Jackson III, some help for their defense.

This upcoming draft and offseason will be really interesting to follow. We’ll see how much of an influence Andy Weidl will have on things. He ran the Eagles drafts the past few years and they weren’t afraid to do some maneuvering.

Watching the product on the field right now is tough, but following the offseason of a bad team will be pretty enjoyable.

If this team picks top-5 in the draft and can flip that pick to Seattle for 2 1sts and 2 2nds, they're going to be able to rebuild in one draft if they pick well.

Imagine if the Claypool trade ends up being pick #35 and the Steelers trade their pick #3 for pick #10, pick #15, pick #40 and pick #45. They'll be sitting at #10, #15, #33, #35, #40 and #45 this year.

It is human nature to go to extremes.

Tomlin when graded on the whole is at worst an average coach and I will even give him a small bit above average. He certainly has flaws, and I have been among the most vocal in pointing them out. I will not get into all of them again, we all know them now.

But there is a huge room for grading between moron and genius.

Sure why not. They really wanted Jackson iirc until the Bengals took him. Then they panicked and took Burns

How many current Steelers have brothers coming up in this draft?

Seems like a great trade for everyone involved. Pickens has already demonstrated the need to be at least #2. Hopefully Austin makes a full recovery and can be the #3 next season. Plenty of other talents to be the #3/4 receivers this season (as if it even matters at this point). Hopefully they use the pick on OL, DL, or ILB.

Claypool should do much better on a team that can throw the ball down the field. Not sure if Chicago is that team, but things were both short and crowded here. He’s better than most on here seem to give him credit for. Best of luck to him!

I highly suspect they will have a second half surge and pick 12-16.

It would be typical Steelers.

I’m going to laugh if they undid the Claypool robbery by dealing a 2nd round pick for William Jackson lol
It will not be Washington was going to cut him if not traded CBS sports mock trade a few weeks ago was him for MR straight up once Weintz got hurt

You can tell who the baseball and hockey people are. NFL teams generally don't "sell off" during a down year. Few will be traded because that's not how NFL roster management operates
I’ll take an apology.

The Steelers made 2 trades literally twelve hours after you came at me saying I don’t know what I’m talking about by suggesting we make some moves today.

Rooney will sign off on it. Not that the team needs draft capital with only 4 picks (now 5) but they need to try and preserve the Never Had a Losing season! Screw draft capital.

Chicago overpaid though. It was a dumb move by them. They could have drafted a receiver with that pick. But Claypool has a chance to make something of himself there now he's with a better staff.
I think investing in Bitcoin is dumb, but that doesn't mean if I have a Bitcoin that I'd trade it for $1. Wrap your head round the difference.

Wash was going to release him, so kind of comical if they think it will help their D.

Doesn’t much matter if it’s late round fodder. Just more amusing than anything.

Here’s a hypothetical question: Would anyone have rather traded Claypool plus a fifth for Roquan Smith?

He’ll be expensive but he’s one of the best ILB in football.

As someone else said, he wants to be paid big time. I'm not inclined at the moment to hand big money contracts considering we're in the middle of a rebuild

If the contract wasn't a consideration, hell yes I'd want him. He'd be a great replacement for Bush next year
