You can tell who the baseball and hockey people are. NFL teams generally don't "sell off" during a down year. Few will be traded because that's not how NFL roster management operates
Tell Chicago and Carolina that. This isnt just a down year; we are the second worst team in the AFC.

Let’s just stay the course, make no changes.

Anderson wasn't a sell off, he spouted off and got moved.

The Bears have only moved Smith. Some rumors about more trades are out there but they haven't happened yet (and even if they did, it would be atypical NFL roster handling).

Just let this go

I guess the Bears are making history by trying to make moves at the deadline.

Not that it's going to happen but...

DeMeco Ryans, DC, 49ers?
Shane Steichen, OC, Eagles?
E Evero, DC, Broncos?

Who else? I really like the idea of the Eagles OC...

It’s not like we don’t have guys in the block. We just aren’t given guys away especially if they are under contract past this season. If someone offered a 4th for Mt or a 6th for MR they be gone. They want a 2nd for Claypool nobody wants to pay that. We have 19 uDFA they probably will re up bush Edmunds Sutton and Larry O but anyone else is available.
Carolina gave away so much capital for baker and Darnold they needed to recroup some

Example:

I wanted the Steelers to draft Lamar Jackson his draft year. We passed and the Ravens drafted him a couple of picks later.

The Ravens completely redid their offense to build the offense around his skills. They drafted to match his skills.

Can you imagine if the Steelers had listened to my wants and had taken Jackson? They could not adapt a can of tomato soup into tomato soup.

Jackson would not have done well here with this toxic environment. Plus Tomlin doesn't do film study. You think he was going to design an offense for Jackson?

Nobody designed a special offense for Jackson. They hired the guy who designed the Collin Kap San Francisco offense. It was already built it’s why teams know how to attack Lamar and unlike hurts who can makes throws in the pocket and use it Wr Lamar sticks to his TE and the RPo blitz him from his right side force him left same with Allen

“After Sunday’s debacle, the Steelers remained on pace to average their fewest points per game in 52 years. They are now last in the league in scoring, putting up an average of just 15 points per contest. At one point late in the first half, they accumulated more penalties than first downs.”

We are at the point where our only hope is some scandal inside the Steelers forces the Rooneys to sell the team. The Canada disaster has gone on far too long; not firing him is now surprising even for a team stuck in the 1970s.

The only person more guilty than Tomlin is the is the ownership group.

So, I guess we have some hope until Thursday? If he’s not whacked by Thursday, it won’t happen this season.

That has always been my thought. With the bye, the players and coaches are persona non grata for the first part of the week. Thus they aren't going to make the move til everyone is back.

And I agree, if he isn't fired this week it won't happen during the season. IMO, if the Steelers are going to suck then they might has well really suck. Get in position to draft one of the QBs. And then trade down and pick up picks from someone who will be desperate to trade up.

I don’t care if he is fired since Tomlin is just going to bring in another RPo jet sweeps motion based Oc. Until the players get the execution down it will not change

So I recently watched this Biography and couldn't help but catch a line from Gene Simmons:
Watch Biography: KISStory Full Episodes, Video & More | A&E

I'm paraphrasing, but he said "I was never really into booze or drugs. But fame for me was my drug. I loved having my ego stroked and people telling me I was the best. Just like any other drug, fame can stifle creativity"

To me that encapsulates Mike Tomlin. I mean, who the f*** was he before he came to the Steelers? An average to mediocre DC with a ton of fresh ideas and notebooks of all the practices.

In 2007 he was indeed the right coach at the right time. Cowher's time had gotten stale and Tomlin invigorated a bunch of coasting vets. Tomlin pointed out that the defense wasn't blocking after turnovers. Low and behold, that's the reason Harrison gets his SB TD. Full marks to Tomlin.

Wins the SB (believe he was the youngest at that time) and gets to the SB shortly thereafter. Then he starts getting the fanfare.

But when was the last time Tomlin came with a fresh idea or innovated anything? He still coaches like he's got the best D in the league and a prime HOF QB.

They’re getting bad QB play and Canada is a really bad OC that the Steelers should move on from. Both can be true.
Canada sucks at play tendices and scheming Wr open but sometimes I think the Wr run the wrong depth

I'm telling you that we've now had 4 (FOUR!) Qb's that have mediocre results in Canada's system.
I'm also on record saying that the philosophy is the QB is instructed to get the ball out quickly to reduce turnovers. To that effect, they are telling the QB's to only read half the field. KP in the clips you've shown, doesn't even look backside.

The difference between Pickett and Trubinski? Pickett had confidence getting to his 2nd read. MT panicked and ended up sacking himself multiple times. KP has had some of those instances where he's read pressure badly, but not to MT's level. Same reason Rudolph hasn't gotten a sniff (bc he's a bad pressure feeling QB too)

Back to Ben. In Quarters 1-3 last year he was running the exact same stuff: read half the field, get the ball out.

When the team fell behind and Ben wasn't getting playcalls he did his own thing and orchestrated about 6 GW drives.

Yes, players are open but it means jack if the QB"s aren't allowed to even look their way. Until that philosophy changes, we're gonna see missed plays every week and missed opportunities.

This is Tomlin's philosophy. So I blame less of Canada bc he's only doing what Tomlin wants.

Except the last 2 games they have let KP run no huddle and call his own plays. KP first pick against the jets was the double teamed cover 2 pass to Claypool over the middle of the field

So you're telling me that a rookie QB who called his own plays struggled? Man that is shocking and relevatory!

We've been at the extremes of the spectrum: allowing KP to go no huddle and KP being told to only read half the field.

I know it's a novel concept, but how about there being some middle ground where KP is permitted to read the entire field with the playcalls provided?
I know, that shit is too advanced for Tomlin to consider. It's a stupid proposition...forget I ever said something

Again, I have no idea if KP is the man bc he's not being put in a position to succeed bc of crappy coaching. This isn't me defending him or skewering him. But there's a definite pattern with this offense regardless of QB competency/incompetency. Anyone with half a brain can see this.
