I hope this trade Duchene talk blows over soon. At least most of the board has moved on from the trade Stastny craze.

A big reason our first line is so dominant is because Downie does the little things to get Lando and O'Reilly open.

You dont always need to score to be effective.

He missed a lot of glorious chances over the last few games. I think that line would be better off with a scorer there.

This board has become an estrogen fest, no offense intended, but seriously, WTF.

So Duchene stinks on the wing, he's not much better at Center. Is it time to try him on Defense?

While I don't think the idea of trading him is rediclious. It would take a helluva lot to get him. It would have to be something along the lines of Nash for Duchene straight up. Or Duchene for Parise straight up and only then if we had the assurance Parise would re-sign here before hitting free agency.

He may be back but where does he play? Like Duchene, he is not a fit on the 3rd line.

That isn't a traditional third line. We have the depth to create 3 scoring lines. Mueller-Duchene-Olver is a bomb ass scoring line for next season.

Good job on completely missing the point. Duchene has had linemates that he has chemistry with. He has also made them better. Mueller, Olver,WInnik,Stewart and Flash. It was just never sustained mostly because of injuries.

Good job on failing to make your point clear in the first place. Is the fact that Yzerman added a defensive aspect to his already impressive game supposed to make me think that Duchene isn't more valuable as a trade asset than on the ice? Sorry, but it doesn't. I'm not saying that it's impossible for Duchene to improve, but I do think it's asinine to pretend like Yzerman wasn't already special at Duchene's age OR that Yzerman's progress is any indicator of what to expect out of Duchene. For every Yzerman you give me as an example, I can give you 5 players who showed promise in Juniors or their first year, then flamed out and left their GMs kicking themselves for not trading them when they had higher value.

I'll grant you that Flash and Duchene had chemistry. But, I consider that more to Fleischmann's credit than Duchene's. Who hasn't he had chemistry with, even in Florida this season? On the other hand, all I've heard for the last 3 years is 'break up this line or that line' so Duchene can have some 'good' line mates. And, even if the line looks good for a couple games, they inevitably implode and the cycle starts again. Mueller looked best when he played with Stastny. Stewart looked best when he put in some effort and played with Stastny. Olver just looks good (at least 3rd/4th line center good.) Winnik looked best when he played with O'Reilly.

Have watched most Avs games since he came into the league. He is clearly not healthy. His explosive skating is almost non-existent right now. This is his bread and butter along w/ his stick handling. While he needs to improve mental aspects of his game need to stop talking about trading him it would be a huge mistake.

So much hate on this kid i can see him playing better next year just get a bit stronger core and work on his shot and maybe its the system sacco is trying to use is making him uneffective? if im the avs i dont give up on him yet i just have a gut feeling this kid is gonna come back hard next season. I just don't see how he can't be atleast a 70pt player

I really hope no one hates him, but those that do should seek professional help. It's OK to be disappointed or frustrated by his performance and to expect more from him, but hating on him is just plain dumb.

My exact feelings. I am extremely disappointed with the season Duchene has been having (both with injuries and performance), but I have the utmost respect for the guy and really love his attitude and personality. He is a great guy and I enjoy having him on the team (he is an Avalanche fan living the dream)... but I must admit, it is fun poking fun of his love for fishing :)

I thought he was solid last night. Can't finish though...

He plays like this guy (this year)

Raymond and a 1st for Duchene? (token Canuck fan offer of Raymond and pick for any player in NHL?)

This thread might be the worst on the boards. The kid played much better last night and his line was dangerous almost every shift. Yes, he missed some glorious chances (namely whiffing on a clear shot in the slot) but give the guy a break. He is clearly playing injured and looked more like his normal self than he has in ages. I know we are frustrated about his lack of finish/production, but I'm sure he is more frustrated at himself than any of us combined. Let's hope he uses last game as a stepping stone, keep that line together and use his missed chances as motivation to pot some next game. The talk about trading/scratching him needs to stop, we are way more dangerous with him in the lineup.

That title belongs to yesterday's GDT. Just read some of the garbage that was being posted about Duchene and EJ in that thread when the game ended.

If he is injured then he should not be playing. Him at significantly less than 100% is NOT a boon. Get him off the ice.

Good job on failing to make your point clear in the first place.

Thanks, even tho it should have been pretty obvious I was talking about the 2 players defensive games. Considering Duchene has been pretty successful offensively in his first 2 years.

Is the fact that Yzerman added a defensive aspect to his already impressive game supposed to make me think that Duchene isn't more valuable as a trade asset than on the ice?

Again, you missed the point. Good job on that.:thumbu:

It's the fact that a young offensive stud learned to play defense after a few years in the NHL. As for Duchene being more valuable as a trading chip than on the ice, Just look at the players traded or rumored to be traded around Duchene''s position. Not one of them got a bonafide star or rumored to.
Sorry, but it doesn't. I'm not saying that it's impossible for Duchene to improve, but I do think it's asinine to pretend like Yzerman wasn't already special at Duchene's age OR that Yzerman's progress is any indicator of what to expect out of Duchene.

Duchene's first 2 years were successes. I'm not saying Duchene=Yzerman or will ever come close to the player Yzerman was. I'm just using an example.

For every Yzerman you give me as an example, I can give you 5 players who showed promise in Juniors or their first year, then flamed out and left their GMs kicking themselves for not trading them when they had higher value.

Please, name 5 players that have 122pts in their first 161 games in the NHL, then flamed out and left their gm's kicking themselves.

I'll grant you that Flash and Duchene had chemistry. But, I consider that more to Fleischmann's credit than Duchene's. Who hasn't he had chemistry with, even in Florida this season? On the other hand, all I've heard for the last 3 years is 'break up this line or that line'

Duchene had pretty good first year and a better 2nd year. I think it's safe to say he's had chemistry with a number of players or Duchene's good enough to hit 100+ points without any help?I'm not sure where you heard break up this line or that and judging by your post count I think I've spent more time on here so, I would know.

so Duchene can have some 'good' line mates.

Implode by injuries, yes.

This year you're right but not in his first year with the avs, he was clearly better with Duchene. Olver looked better last year on Duchene's wing.
