Most of the people who said they preferred other players over him (Including me.) were saying it before the draft also.
I clearly stated many times that Forsberg was the first forward on my list, and I'm living with that statement right or wrong. Make a quick research and you'll see it for yourself. We have people who know about the game on this board and not only people talking out of their ***** (Albeit, theres more of that on here
)
Well, kudos to you for this. Most people don't make their opinions known until after the fact. And many who do, just flip their position. So kudos on making a pick and standing by it. You may turn out to be wrong but there's nothing 'wrong' with that.
If I followed junior players more I'd weigh in on this kind of stuff but I don't really watch the players other than in tournaments so I can't say anything on minor league players other than what I've read.
This was in 2012, his english is fine. The lost in translation excuse is BS.
First, not an excuse.
Secondly, there's every reason to believe that he isn't as articulate in English as he is in Russian and you can see how he might've been trying to say something else here. Kids say things that come out wrong all the time even when their first language is English. And I can't believe that ANY player would go out and say something like "I don't like to skate" and mean it. I'd say he's guilty of guilty language and that's about it.
Third, the quote isn't that bad. He himself admits that he needs to learn to play better without the puck.
He's 19, getting used to a new language, under scrutiny and isn't media savvy. I think it's a little early to be labeling him a slacker.
