Everyone always says this after a blowout game, but the 12 team playoff won't make things any worse than they are now. What it actually could do is give a better chance to avoid what happened last night because a team like TCU most likely would not have made it to the title game. A 12 team playoff this year would have been pretty dang entertaining because teams 2-12 were all pretty similar- would have been some great matchups. Can't wait to add MORE teams to the playoff!
Holy crap. If Kentucky loses at home to a bad South Carloina team I think Caliparis job may actually be in jeopardy
There is no season to save. They are done. There was a "Please go to Texas" sign in Rupp last night.I did not see that coming. Who would have thought not so long ago that a game like Saturday against the Vols in January would be a save the season kind of game.
I heard about the sign but I've been out of the loop and don't know what that means. Is your coach being courted by Texas or something? There is no season to save. They are done. There was a "Please go to Texas" sign in Rupp last night.
Problem of course is Cal has the #1 recruiting class for next year lined up.

That's always been the rap on Cal was that he could recruit but couldnt coach. Dunno if that's true or if the game has just changed and Cal hasnt been able to change with the timesWhy do you think they are so bad? Looking back at 2021 and 2022 recruiting it seems they got 2 players each year and both were 5 stars. Is he just back to showing the only way he can be successful is purely based on having the absolute best talent? I always felt that’s how it was in his previous spots.
Successful in this case being top of the SEC and always competing for national championship.
I have followed Calipari since he was at UMass. He definitely did NOT get the best players there, but he got them to play as a team. At Memphis, he had a whole season of vacated wins due to one player not taking his own SAT.That's always been the rap on Cal was that he could recruit but couldnt coach. But all the crazy talent hes had and on one title at any of his stops kinda backs that up. All the other "great" coaches have multiple titles
He did not have any final fours vacated at UKI have followed Calipari since he was at UMass. He definitely did NOT get the best players there, but he got them to play as a team. At Memphis, he had a whole season of vacated wins due to one player not taking his own SAT.
At Kentucky, he had blue chip players and went to the Final Four on four occasions. Two were vacated. He probably should have won more than one NCAA championship, but that is sports!
Okay, then they must have been the one each at UMass and Memphis because officially he has only four.He did not have any final fours vacated at UK
All I can say as a Bama fan is thank you Vandy. Helps our path to a possible league title- lolI'm a Vols fan but cheered for the Vandy kid who hit the 3 last night. He will remember that for the rest of his life and as a (former) bball player myself who loved taking the clutch shots I couldn't help but smile and even vocally cheer for him.
With that said... TN made all of that possible. Here are 3 key things that happened in the 2nd half:
1) Vandy only had 1 foul until about 17 seconds left in the half? That's just so unbelievable. The Vols had no free throws until the one that Vescovi missed.
2) The Vols should have dunked the ball when they had the wide open breakout with about 10 seconds left. Huge mistake.
3) Vescovi (again!) with the terrible decision to drop down into the paint and double team a guy who was taking a contested shot to tie the game. In doing so he left the one guy wide open in the corner for the game winner.
and a 4th thought not directly related to this...
College basketball is at its weakest I have ever seen if TN is a legit top 10 team. Even in KenPom this morning after considering last night's results they are #4. This team is crazy. They can beat anyone but can obviously also lose to anyone.
It's crazy that UT went from a very nice win against the other ut to putting up three straight turds of a game in a row. The final sequence was really awful, but we also shouldn't have let the game be that close. Tennessee better figure something out soon or Bama is going to straight up embarrass us on our home court next week. This team has shown they can be very good, but they seem like another in the line of Barnes coached teams that doesn't have the consistency to make a real tournament run.
Saw this note last night- Tennessee has 3 SEC losses- Kentucky/Florida/Vandy
Bama is 4-0 against those three teams with an average margin of victory of 31.
That is nuts.
