Speaking of deals, did the Vols really just get a top qb recruit for the low (indirect) price of $8 million?

We sure did.

Now that's $8 mil over 4 years I believe but not all is guaranteed. I haven't seen the contract personally just going off internet rumors.

Wait.. his name is "I'm a leava" ...

Dont be surprised if he transfers :sarcasm::naughty::laugh:

Hah man I immediately saw that too. It’s set up to be the recruiting version of a catfish. We sure this guy is real??? Vols fans always assume the worst so I didn’t even want to go there.

Crazy to think teams can now openly do what essentially got SMU the death penalty in the 80's.

Bruce Pearl would still be the Vols coach if he hadn't lied about having a Sophomore over to his house for a BBQ. The pivot really is pretty crazy.

Hell Pruitt got fired last offseason for paying players. I know he really mainly got fired because he sucked but that was nominally the reason we fired him with cause.

Supposedly his NIL deal has a no transfer clause so if that's true he won't be a leavin us.

The key word in that is lying. It's the same thing that got Petrino fired at Arkansas. There aren't too many jobs where you can get caught red handed lying to your boss and keep your job. Especially with that kind of pay.

Right, and I don't disagree that you shouldn't lie, but just keep in mind what Pearl was lying about. They wouldn't even ask about that now... at least I would hope not. Wouldn't it be funny if a rule like that is still in place but you can pay a kid $8m?

I don't suspect we will see much out of the NCAA from here on, at least not in the regard. They lost in the courts so any push from them and schools will just leave and restart a new sanctioning body, if they don't anyways.

I don't disagree completely with you- but man, it is just so hard to win in the NCAAT. Plenty of other high seeds besides SEC teams also went down. Heck, the two best teams- Arizona and Gonzaga- were both pretty fortunate to survive the weekend. Wisconsin completely crapped the bed, etc, etc, etc.

It is just HARD to win in the tournament
Wisconsin's point guard had his ankle literally go 90 degrees sideways with 3 minutes remaining in the first half. He came out with a boot on for the second half. The #2 PG has a long term COVID issue and isn't playing. They had to use their SG as their third choice PG because they didn't want to put in a freshman who had played about 3 minutes all season. The Badgers played better than Dayton did in the same situation. The Badgers lost by 5 IIRC. I think your are over stating it a bit. It is a lot easier to be prepared for disaster when you have more than 15 minutes to plan.

Glad for the SEC but damn feel bad for the Zags they deserve one...

I don't know man- once again they have by far the easiest path to a #1 seed and once again they can't get it done. This Gonzaga team was good, but not even close to their team last year. Had they played an SEC/Big 12/Big 10 schedule they probably would not have had a 1 seed.

Wow - St Peters! And the clock refuses to strike midnight.
I think there are occasionally team like this that nobody realized how good they are because they play in a low major conference and never get a chance to show their stuff. It would also be so good for the sport if they won it all

What is so impressive about St Peters is that in none of these 3 games have they looked like the "underdog" or some Cinderella playing above their heads or out of their minds. They have pretty much controlled the 3 games. If they stripped the name off the jerseys and you knew nothing about the teams, you would not ever guess that they were a huge underdog.

Well of course Duke and probably North Carolina are gonna cruise right into the Final Four.

And how the hell does a game end 50-44 in the shot clock era?

Holy f***balls this is almost about as bad as could be imagined. Would have only been worse if somehow UCLA was in there instead of Villanova

Well, if Duke wins I win my bracket so I am in the position of pulling for the Blue Devils
