Got a random automated email over the weekend to my bosses boss and myself CC'd (I don't check my work emails over the weekend, so I saw it this morning) that my access would be terminated in two weeks.

Now, this place's financial year runs 4/1-3/31, and the expiration date was 3/31.

I messaged this guy directly and asked if I had to worry about this and he said "No, I have to extend everyone until 12/31", which I am taking that I am fine. However, as I think back, I got a call from my recruiter on Friday out of the blue asking me if I had any concerns, etc. They do tend to touch base a bit making sure I am happy, and it usually happens on fridays, because I was decidedly unhappy when they didn't convert me to full time I was sold on when I took the job.

But, my spidey senses are tingling, unfortunately. I am stepping up my application game. I was casually looking before....I am actively looking now. We'll see how this pans out. Probably being paranoid, but....it wouldn't be the first time these people haven't been up front with me.

Last work thing, I swear, but- I’m getting my pitch dialed in. Spent just 2 hours hiking some hills today that just haven’t been knocked, and my goodness man. Sun shining, only a few good options, but boom- got a promising account, got some stunning views of the bay, got a workout in. Took the rest of the day to do chores and relax, pumped for the rest of the week.

This gig is nerve-wracking, but when you’re dialed in your private eye, actor, energy expert, mapper- dude, it’s kinda fun. I like learning new areas, noticing trends, and seeing how each project works. My social battery is nonexistent, unfortunately, but I pretend well enough. People are just a lot, man, imagine approaching 50+ strangers a day and being like “hey, lemme improve your life.” Weird job, but absolutely the most interesting and rewarding one I’ve had.

Years ago when my son's scout troop was raising money, he would get discouraged easily. So we turned it into the "no game": making his pitch - asking if people would like to buy popcorn to support he and his troop to go to camp - and getting the no, and counting the no like a score. He wanted to get the highest score (and thus ask the most people). The game helped him because he knew people would also say yes which was what he was really most interested in.

I miss those days.

I’m taking my daughter and her bf out for lunch tomorrow. He wants to meet me. I expected this at some point but I’m not sure I like it

He was a nice kid. He called me sir, wasn’t loud and/or obnoxious, and was the only one to thank me for lunch. Because you know, why would my own spawn ever thank me? Still don’t like the kid by default, but if my daughter is happy then I approve.

Aw man, glad it sparked some nostalgia for ya! And sounds like fantastic fathering and salesmanship lol- we’re grown adults talking about “gameifying” our jobs, and it absolutely helps. I like marking houses on this app we have, I liken it to coins/stars in Mario, and just walking a certain distance and keeping it like a score is a big thing.

Well, color me shocked. I figured x-men '97 would, essentially, be a lot like the previous x-men animated series. A short, kid friendly, digestible version of the comics to essentially serve as a vehicle to sell action figures and get kids into the comic book store.

Man, they really nailed the 1st two episodes and setup at least 2 major comic book plotlines. My expectations were low, but if you are a fan of the comics, worth a watch.

So I finally can have a medical professional look at my knee today. I'm not expecting much - there is consistent pain in the joint, occasionally sharp - that I don't already suspect, but it's the first step to getting things medically handled. It only took 12 days.

On the bad news front, our pup has been in and out of the vet the last few months due to her barely using the rear right leg. We were told it was bad arthritis, then ligament damage. As we've medicated her for swelling and then for just pain, her walking hadn't improved. My vet recommended we see a orthopedic vet. Went today and got more x-rays....looks like bone cancer that has spread all the way to her lungs.

We've had her since 2016, got her out of a bad situation where she was in a cage 20+ hours a day and gave her a good life. Just trying to figure out when the best time is to let her go now.

So sorry Matt. I think I remember you posting when you got her. So hard to do, but you’ll know when.

The worst part of owning pets is that we tend to outlive them. It is always a heartbreaker.

Sorry.

Well I went from the hard cast to the walking boot which is good as I'm going to the Philippines during Songkran to meet up with friends. They're coming to Thailand a couple weeks later so it'll be mayhem to the nth degree with Doctors and millionaires outdoing each other.

Now on a different note, I'm a damn lightweight. Was hurting today so took some pain pills, drank some Gatorade and Caretaker 1 had to escort me home as I was falling asleep in the bar

I spent almost two hours waiting to get my knee checked out and still didn’t get seen. I go back today, hopefully the various parties have figured out who pays for what.

I need to share this in a safe space so that Nate and his coach don't see me share it.

Yesterday was the first game of the year that Nate did not see any action. It was also the first game of the year where they had a solid chance of getting a W. Now Nate's worried that he won't see any action for a while.

But, he did do a great job gassing up his teammates on the sideline. His goal celebration dances were on point, including doing the Stanky Leg when Chris Stancarone (aka Stanky) scored. And Nate seemed more fired up when their freshman starting attack scored than Kyan was.
