So last Friday I fell on some slick stairs, took the hide off both knees when I landed. I'm moving like an old man. Faaaak.

I'm curious if they will get into who is actually Jessica's mother as expanded in the later books. Also interesting to see they didn't really include the mentats or the spacing guild navigators at all.
A bit off topic, but isn't it crazy some of us have been posting on here for almost 2 decades? When i first started posting here, I was a 19 y/o kid attending community college. Now, i have a wife, a kid, a career, etc...i went through an entire phase of life with you fools!

My first posts here were shortly after I had moved to NC in 1998. I was newly married, without children and living in Greensboro. I'm now 5 years divorced and my youngest is about to go to college in Switzerland. It's weird for sure.

I’ve only been here since 2017, but since I joined I’ve had two major health scares that I never posted about, moved twice, and had gotten engaged and had that end. In addition to having multiple jobs before I finally got annoyed and went into business for myself twice.

My first posts were from Korea, then a bunch from Afghanistan, Iraq, Bahrain, Djibouti etc. Retired from the Navy, then into real estate and house flipping until a stroke retired me. Divorced, several 3+ Yr follow on relationships, almost 8 years living in the Philippines and now 2+ in Thailand.

Lots of thread worn off these wheels over the 2 decades on here

People on trains listening to their phones without earbuds should be rounded up and forced to labor in prison breaking rocks on a diet of only water and bread.

There's 3 types of Youtubers in Pattaya, you have the ones documenting their lives and things about the city / country, the ones that try to be informative about condos, visas etc, and then the maggots that walk around with their cameras doing street shots. Every day you see them up and down the Soi and a lot of my girls will turn their backs, cover their faces etc.

Out of the 'informative' ones there's this guy that proclaims to be an expert and caters to the cheap Charlie crowd. The cheapest hotels, guest houses, where to eat the cheapest meals, best Happy hours etc. Well a fee months back when my 2 least productive bars were getting ready to open he made some disparaging remarks, gave a list of what he thought my prices were going to be and implied I was part of the big bar group owning over 1/3 of the street. He told his channel to avoid them, to definitely never pay a bar fine as way over priced etc. Big Gus commented on the video, confronted him on the message boards about spreading false info as did quite a few of our patrons, as well as a couple other independent owners. He blew them off, never apologised.

Last night he comes up to me and asks if he can livestream for his Patreon subscribers. Says how this will be a great business driver etc etc. He made me laugh, I made him show me his stats, 1143 subscribers, 67 Patreons as if that would be enough for me to inconvenience my girls that don't want to be on camera. Besides which his Patreon subscribers that live in Pattaya which are a few already regularly visit my bars.

Now don't get me wrong, I know and like quite a few of the Youtubers, there's just some I wouldn't give the time of day to

Know what's also horrible? Those people who have phone conversations on the bluetooth in their car over their speakers with their volume all the way up so everyone within 300 feet of them can hear their entire conversation (with the windows closed too). So ridiculous and annoying. It makes me wonder if they realize we can all hear them or they just don't care. Does the volume need to be on 400? You're parked in a parking lot

I'm so bored and can't find anything to watch, so I'm toying with the idea of watching the Barbie movie just so I can laugh at how bad it (probably) is.

Watched the French series "Lupin" and it was enjoyable. Finished "Death and Other Details" last week. The GF watched the new Wonka movie and I was surprised it didn't suck.

Went out to a local brewery to have a couple pints and listen to some music. On the way out, I partially held the door for two people. The second was deep in their phone, not paying attention and got slammed when I let go of the door (my hands were full and I was not looking behind me) and subsequently made a big deal out of it.

Granted, the oblivious complainer was my own child. :biglaugh: Dad now sucks.

Lupin was awesome, as was Death and Other Details. Finally getting started on Jack Ryan. I’ve read everything Tom Clancy wrote about him (and just about nothing of “his” after he passed away), and so far it’s pretty damn good.

Gosling is great in it, and once you realize they unintentionally made a parody of western feminism its even better.

I just finished up 'The Gentleman' on Netflix. It's very Guy Ritchie. It has some of the similar beats of movie of the same name (also by Ritchie). IF you've seen his movies, lots of rehashes (not the characters, but same archetypes) of previous characters. Overall was pretty good, though they muffed the finale a bit. Setup a big bang and then cut the fuse. Very disappointing. Had some funny moments though.

As for other recommendations, The Last of Us was the best TV of last year, at least IMHO.

The barbie movie is fine....if, as a man, you realize:

1. You are not the intended audience.
2. It's a movie about a toy doll.

It certainly has its funny. moments, though.

I ended up watching one of the Jack Reacher movies with Tom Cruise, as I was reading a book online.

Guess I only really wanted background noise.

For watchin' purposes: finally got around to seeing Prey on Hulu. Good overall, but the back half is the TITS. Easily the second best Predator movie, and #4 for the universe (behind Alien and Aliens, still). It's one of those rare movies where all the extraneous seeming, boring stuff in the front half fully pays off. Bonus points, it's GORGEOUS, which keeps you going in the downtimes. I often use movies/shows to distract myself during other tasks, but this was one I fully locked into from the get-go.

I found out there's an all-Commanche language dub and want to watch that and un-subtitled Apocalypto back to back at some point. PS, if you haven't seen Apocalypto, also recommend. Once it kicks off, there's no breaks for 35ish mins. It's exhaustingly awesome

Finally going to see Dune Part 2 tomorrow night (In IMAX) It's been interesting seeing how well received this is being, especially since Dune Part 1 had good reviews but didn't make much of a dent outside sci fi nerds. Hoping it lives up to the hype
I saw it yesterday and enjoyed it. I had enjoyed Part 1 also. I hope there is more.
