Karma is a bitch you don't want to mess with. Earned good karma Friday night sparing a cute 7-11 cashier from earning extra money on beach road. Paid her rate to accompany my Brit birthday buddy, his gf and me on a live music tour, then sent her home unmolested with basically 4 days pay for 2hrs and a few cocktails.

Spent that karma yesterday. My landlord, the number 3 in the local Thai constabulary was on the 6 to collect my rent, have a drink, and bs with his sister-in-law one of my cashiers. While there, these 3 young Indian lads were making a nuisance of themselves on their rented scooters. They've been doing it the last few days, burn outs, popping wheelies, driving the wrong way etc. Well they annoyed my landlord, quick phone call and both ends of street blocked off and the lads hit with big fines, scooters impounded. No helmet typically $15 dropped on floor board and ride away, wrong way same thing, the wheelies and reckless bit stiffer about $30, impound about $60. He hit them with everything, especially after 2 tried running only to meet the BiB he had waiting at Beach Road. The girls enjoyed it as those guys don't go in bars or buy drinks for the girls but want to talk and try to get their Line info in front of the managers and mamasans

Thai logic never fails to amuse me. 3 sister cousins (they grew up together in same village but not related) are roommates. The 3 of them share 2 keys. Instead of having another made, they just want to share keys.

Today was a Buddha holiday so no alcohol or bars open, the one roommate came over for dinner / movie date at Terminal 21. Fast forward to oh 2am ish and my Line is blowing up from one of the roommates. She doesn't have a key, can't contact either roommate so asks if Far is still with me. I tell her she's sleeping, so she asks if she can come get the key. I let her in, go back to watching the Sabres, wonder where Nung is, go check the bedroom and the two are nekkid fast asleep snuggling each other.

Now there's nothing aesthetically wrong with that, however I'm sure that Far will give me an earful about the situation when she wakes.

I'm really close to 100 subs on my channel and I think that's pretty rad. I started 5 months ago and I think that growth is pretty decent. For those of you on here who subbed, I thank you.

Also, I just came up with a really eye catching title template for my next 7 Days to Die series. I want it to look nicer than season 1's random stillshot, so now it's a random stillshot but with a consistent overlay.

My young Aussie manager quit to go be the sub manager for a YouTube er that has a group of 4 bars and a hotel with another opening. I wouldn't let him livestream from my bar as I have a bunch of girls that hide their faces from all the passing YouTube guys. Personally, I think he's going to fail as there's another YouTube wannabe in that chain that has gotten little traction from that association, but a bit more from collaboration with a Bangkok Aussie.

Competing Thailand Bar-stream YouTubers is not something I had ever considered before this moment

You'd be surprised at how many there are just in Pattaya. Ian and Sam have daily short videos. Coop puts out daily condo, and retirement info. Trevor does his morning walk and gives updates on what's happening around town. The Chocolate Man has dates with his gf on his daily video. Bam Bam has his day in the life with his gf. Nick self promotes his bars and hotel with a feature restaurant daily. Then there are at least 10 others that do walking tours with no commentary down Soi 6 and then along Beach Road to show the freelancers.

Livestreams are by Nick in his bar, Coop 2x a week, Trevor a couple times a week from his Buzzin lounge.

Out of the young kids ie about 30yo Ian had a party because he passed 10k subscribers so can afford to live.

My wife is having gastric bypass surgery on the 9th. To prepare and shrink her liver a little bit she is starting a 10 day diet that is mostly protein shakes. In a show of solidarity, I am doing a variation of the Velocity Diet which is 4 protein shakes and one solid meal for dinner. Also, I could stand to lose some fat to figure out how much of my clothes being tighter lately is fat versus gains in lean muscle mass. I do know that I have put on some muscle lately. But, certainly not just muscle.

Best of luck to you both!

I think I'll be taking a week or two off from the job search.

Last week, a 3rd party recruiter reached out. Historically, I've avoided them, but...4 months in, it just costs me time. They had a position, decent fit, good pay (a little less than I was making previously, but closer than a lot of other places). Wanted to rush me into interviews, oftentimes on no notice. They contacted me Monday, talked to them on Wednesday, then was rushed through 3 interviews in 3 days. Told me Friday I would have an answer that night (interview was 4 PM - 5 PM), the recruiter is on West coast time.

About 7:55 PM (before 5 PM PT), I reached out "any update"

He said none yet and that their client 'needed the weekend to think it over' before making a decision.

While that obviously isn't a 'no', regardless of the outcome, I'm tired of interviews, applying, etc. My gut tells me that hurry up hurry up hurry up suddenly going to 'well wait a minute' isn't typically a good sign. If I had to guess, I'd wager they offered it to someone else and THEY wanted to take the weekend to think about it and they are leaving me dangling in case the other candidate doesn't take it.

If it comes back positive, great, I'd start in two weeks.

If its negative, well, I'm gonna take a break. Either way, I'm not applying anywhere this week. Not looking at job boards, not talking to recruiters. I suppose I'll chat if someone emails me about a job I've already applied to, but that'll be about it. We are coming up to what amounts to a hiring freeze. A typical interview process takes 2-3 weeks. Nobody is hiring between thanksgiving and new years. Any interviews that happen after thanksgiving will be Q1 2024 hires. I'm not in the process elsewhere at the moment.

So I woke this morning to my daughter having sent me a text, telling me she got a job on the weekend. It’s only until Christmas, but she’ll be helping the photographer with taking pictures of kids visiting Santa. And even though she’s a student and can be paid student wages, she’ll be making more than that. She’ll be getting $17 an hour, which is decent for a first job

How far is the drive to Ithaca? I need a network specialist/network admin....

Good for her! I believe I made $7.75/hr at my first job.

I made $3.85 an hour at my first job. And then by the time I got my 25 cents an hour raise, minimum wage went up to the same damn thing a week later.

Also apparently she’s getting paid by her school for being a student liaison between the Indigenous student council and school board. Which means I better not get another coffee mug for Christmas!

Four+ hours. Not really my expertise either

So on the good news front, the offer did actually come in. It's not ideal (contract to hire rather than direct hire), but after 4 months getting back to work again and not having to take a 20-30% giant paycut is a win.
