I had an awesome, but tiring weekend.
Rya and I had a cool date night on Saturday where we were able to have dinner at Big Ditch Brewing where her cousin is the kitchen manager. Catching up with him was awesome as we don't see him enough. Then we went to a concert and ran into a couple of friends and a couple of people that we were one degree of separation away from.
And then yesterday I drove to Nate's cold, rainy scrimmage against OCC. After practice on Thursday he was told he was getting the start. They played most of the starters into the 4th quarter. But, they gave the four goalies a quarter each.
Nate's first quarter was awesome. He may have had his best game yet. One of the assistant coaches was blown away at how well he played. And one of his teammates can't wait to get the film because of a 3-4 save sequence toward the end of the first quarter that ended with a guy on the crease going BTB to try and beat Nate off stick high. That save was just bonkers and the DC's brothers couldn't believe it.
If he can keep working hard and play like that, they are going to be OK defensively as they try and replace two close D and a starting goalie that were 1st or 2nd team All Conference last season. And the goalie he is trying to replace was a three-time first team All-Conference selection and two-time Defensive Player of the Year.
The spring season can't get here soon enough.

I’ve had the same job position title and role for the past 8 years. Interviewed internally 2 weeks ago. Accepted a new role last week, same title (new/different project). They gave me verbal financials this AM. 9% raise. First thing I’m gonna do is become a sponsor here. I can afford the $12.

Tis another round of birthday season. My British buddy has his on the 27th, fortunately he's not a clubber so simple bars with maybe a handsy upstairs go go tossed in. The following Friday is a young lady who is insinuating that she wants a new S23 so she can give her old phone to family. Says she'll buy it with her own money, then mentions she's broke after going shopping at the mall with friends.
On the good karma side, I gave $9k to the I Care charity to fully fund 8 semesters of university with room and board for a rural student. A semester at public university for teacher or nurse program is a whopping 16k baht or slightly more than $600.

Nate sent me this clip from the scrimmage Sunday. This was the sequence that his teammate couldn't wait for him to see.
That last save and the crowd reaction is everything.

I don't understand why Caucasian women are so miserable. I was at my local pharmacy and complimented the girl working there on how her mascara really enhanced her eyes today. Caveat, the young lady works for her mom the pharmacist after university, and her father is my neurologist so I know her.
Well this British beast, assuming because of the accent, got livid at me and started screeching in octaves only dogs could hear. I then asked her if she was jealous because she only gets compliments when her husband is drunk or he really f'd up. I heard a loud snort from the end of the counter, and swapped to Thai while the leviathan stewed and muttered expletives at me. Things like this just makes me so happy I left the west behind

After 7 months of grinding away. Countless applications sent out, so many interviews where I choked because I was no good at them until I made myself good at them by putting myself out there over and over.
I just accepted a job offer for a big pay bump with a wonderful company with wonderful perks. I also used to work weekends and late into the evenings, no more. M-F and out of work by 5.
I am so f***ing happy. Truly life changing for me.

Good for you! I wish I was as happy with my new job and my life. Yeah, it pays more - but I'm now a office drone. All I do is wake up earlier than I'm used to, go to work, sit in front of a computer for 8 hours, go home. I have no energy for anything else.
I can't even go to Sabres games anymore (not that I would), because I know I have to get up in the morning and go to work and I need sleep. I don't feel like working hockey games anymore, because it's a chore. I might be done after this season.
