Orlando has a tropical storm warning. Seems they'll be getting enough wind and rain for that, shy of an unexpected veering east or west. Hope it doesn't mess up your plans much.
Glad you're fine. Beautiful evening here after storm pushed through. Low tonight will drop into the mid-60's F. First overnight low below 70F since early June. Wind wasn't bad here, IMO. My weather station showed ~6.25" rain before midnight and ~4.75" after or 11" total. But we hadn't had any in a week or so, so no problem here. Nearby retention pond (one of 3 within a quarter mile, each 1-2 acres in size) is having the first algae bloom I've ever seen in it in 20 years. River flooded downtown and upstream it will flood / crest this weekend as the creeks and feeders dump into the main tributaries. Hopefully the oxbow-bend doesn't flood again as in Florence. Wind wasn't a big deal - only 1 ~50-gallon landscape bin filled with twigs and branches for me.
We never lost power, although I texted my son last night and said to come over if he lost power. His apt. lost power so he slept through any alarms, missed his online class (campus closed today, but online classes still met) lost all the food in his fridge and is spending tonight at a friend's house.
Feeling that life is boring lately - and I'm the result, Wondering how you all kick up the enjoyment of life every now and then? I shouldn't feel bored, great job, great wife, great life. But I am just feeling tired and bored all of the time. Almost disinterested with everything.

Any suggestions?
The heck with all the productive recommendations others have given.
1) Hookers and blow.
2) Drive around with an Ankole cattle in your car. It seems to be popular.

Seriously, as @truthbluth noted, could be early stages of depression.
If you haven't been to see a general physician in a while consider scheduling an appointment. It would also give you something to do.

Other suggestions:
3. Go around your abode and make a list of things which need to be done. Clean closets / donate stuff you don't need. Paint baseboards and trim. Fix / tighten / repair little things. Outdoor repairs / projects. Pick one or two things a week which are within your time / budget to do, and just do them. You'll enjoy the feeling of accomplishment.
4. Get your life in order. Will / durable power of attorney / health care proxy. Organize important papers, etc., for your spouse and family. Label old family photos of ancestors for your kids / grandkids. Write a short family history. Include the triumphs and tragedies.
5. Pick a topic you want to learn (whether it's book/mental learning or hands-on learning) and give it a go at whatever pace suits you.
6. Learn one of the theorems to hand-calculate Pi using trigonometry and an infinite-sided polygon, or the sine function, or an infinite series expansion.
7. Try body-weight exercises or isometrics.
8. Have a neighborhood campfire (depending where you live and what is practical / allowed / feasible for your dwelling).

What do you do for a living? Hobbies are important, too, but having a job you loathe to clock into doesn't make life any easier.

Financial operations strategy and transformation. Its a great job, tons of flexibility (just spent a month in Italy with my wife as she is a teacher and gets summers off), great pay, great career potential. So I dont wake up loathing anything, its honestly a very fortunate position.

I just want to say - wow. Its great to have everyone here just be honest in response with a slew of different suggestions :) Very blessed to have a supportive group on this forum.

I am planning to set up time with a doctor to just talk about some of my physical and mental changes lately. Im feeling more lethargic and apathetic to everything, which could be some chemical imbalance in my body (just turned 30 this month). Im hoping its nothing serious, but Im taking it seriously, especially after reading some suggestions from you all.

Regarding hobbies, I do need to find one that I can do independently. I have always thought about reading more, Im very analytical, so pushing into some theoretical material has always been interesting for me. I'll have to see what connects with me on a trip to Barnes & Noble!

Thank you all, if you are comfortable with it I may follow up in here with some hobby results in the future.

A few years ago I made the decision to read more. I try and read for 45-60 minutes for fun (i.e. outside of my reading for seminary) and during the week that is on my lunch hour. I end up reading a little more than a book per week over the course of the year.

Good Reads is a cool app that can help find books. And they have giveaways all the time.

Angel Hernandez never ceases to be the best at being the worst, lol. Green are called balls, red are strikes (maybe foul balls?) and the number is the pitch in the at bat.

I have 2 tiny sisters in one of my bars, 27yo with 2 kids, and a 24yo without. They're both maybe 4'9 and are very popular because of their personalities and charms. Jelly, who will be whatever your favorite flavor is, currently has a long long time guy bar fining her. So you only see her about 3ish when she comes back to get clothes and check in with her mamasan. Her sister Remi was in the same situation until when to my surprise she was bouncing around the bar and on the street in her bunny outfit. I asked her why was she back, conversation was like this:
M - what happened to your boyfriend
R - he no good, he butterfly
M - well aren't you?
R - no I only do for money, no have love
M - isn't that the same
R - no different, he choice me do what I have
M - so your thaifriendly doesn't count
R - gives funny look, what you mean
M - show her pics of her in my friend's condo
R - how you know
M - Todd sent the pics asked if I knew girl
R - what he say
M - he likes you (big smile on her face)
M - so boyfriend butterfly, and you see my friend in couple hours before meeting boyfriend
R - yes but no love just work
R - no more boyfriends, now I work hard make us lots of money

My little material girl

I have to say that Internet and phone plans in most of Asia (not the Philippines) kick the crap out of Verizon, At&T etc. I swapped my phone plan with AIS today and splurged for the unlimited 5G which now costs me the princely $10 a month. Thought about upping my Internet as I could have jumped from 500 up and down to 1000 for an extra $20 but figured free for 500 was more than sufficient for streaming movies and sports

we in the US truly get f***ed by service providers...phone and internet.

I’m not a professional, just someone with personal experience, but what you are describing sounds like early stages of depression, which has very little to do with anything inside your life circumstances. It’s often just some dumb chemical thing that happens. I’d at least consider talking to a professional. But for short term fixes, getting sunlight in your eyes within the first hour of waking can boost serotonin levels all day long and even improve sleep. I go for a ruck every morning and try to make sure I get at least 10 minutes of sunlight in my eyes. It helps fight off a genetic predisposition for chemical depression.

Or….

The off-season is boring. It just is.

my dad was and my sister were diagnosed clinically with some type of depression.

what you sounds like a form of it.

the tiredness…..

what’s changed recently? After effects of you getting something? Something change in your sleep patterns? Weight gain? Diet change? Issues with sex? Job issues? Relationship issues? Small disagreements Come up? Issues come up with wife or other family members or close friends?

did something happen on that vacation? Did it trigger maybe a mid life crisis coming or thoughts on changing something in your life?

Life is weird. Long story, but I’m renting a place with a girl in the US. She’s from China, we got cut off by Covid and it’s been 3 years apart, and now we’re in this gorgeous 1950s home playing house. And it’s going amazingly well. She’s slightly nuts, but in a way that I think works with my own oddities. Either way, it’s fun, I feel like a kid again at points.

My dad was hospitalized last week for shortness of breath. Turns out he has a heart blockage. At first they thought it just a blockage (myxoma) that they could remove but he had some tumors near his back/spine as well and they now think its could be cancer so they are delaying removing it. Drove up to Rochester (transferred from Elmira to Strong Memorial) to spend some time with him. He's doing OK, can walk around. Needs meds to keep his heart rate down and his blood pressure up. We won't know anything for sure until Tuesday when they will biopsy it. A fun note: Don't get sick over a holiday weekend. Everything is on a holding pattern until the lab is back from Labor Day.

Scary stuff, hope it works out for the best for your dad.

Is he on a cardiac unit? I cover units 428, 434, 416, 414, 714, and 712. He may see my scrawny ass walking in and out of his room if he is.

I thought you were in Mongolia. Or is that another user I’m thinking of?

Good luck.

Strong is a really excellent hospital. My father worked there for over 30 years and my ex manages one of the diagnostic labs.

I dropped Myles off for his first day of his junior year of high school.

11 years ago, I was blocked from seeing him get on the bus for his first day of kindergarten. And not knowing if he will be driving himself to school next year, this was a special drive for me.
