They can grow the f*** up and play. That’s no excuse. Nobody is raping anyone. Well not anymore
You think it’s that simple? This is a team game. If all the players are not on the same page tactically it’s going to be garbage. This is the nhl, individual talent is not overcoming such deficiencies.

The folks who think Fitz is the worst GM ever must have never paid attention to other teams. Ever. The really funny part is that their remedies to the current situation are similar to those pursued by some of the worst GMs the game has ever seen.

Versus issues in “management”? Yes. Coaching maybe not but MANAGEMENT being the issue is a bit much. I don’t give a shit what’s happening in the front office

Coaching is part of management. Because management hired these sorry ass bums and has kept them on in spite of how sorry they are.

Sorry but any apologist stuff is out of line today. They lost 4-1 to the god damned coyotes. There’s no positives there. There’s no excuse there. It’s a joke.

Part of. The poster said management. Not coaching. Take it up with him.

I am the poster lol.

Coaching and management…they’re all part of this org’s leadership group. They have failed top to bottom. There’s no distinction there.

These are the same people who didn't say one f***ing word about him last year. Now after one shitty season he's suddenly incompetent and needs to be fired. He deserves a chance to fix his mistakes first. If we have another bad year, or he does nothing to address our needs, then yes he probably needs to go.

These post game interviews are infuriating.

You didn’t play 48 or 50 minutes. This team with this roster should smoke Arizona even spotting them 3 goals, if you play 50 minutes. They didn’t. It’s the same soft out of position uninspired play as always!
Devils literally iced AHL defence in this game. Forwards group included Tierney, Kermit and Holtz. Hard to treat Arizona as free two points with roster like that.

Totally agree. But management isn’t stopping them from winning against the coyotes. At some point professional players with this level of talent can beat bad teams, even with a human artichoke being interim coach. I don’t think the ownership or the front office are that impactful today in Tempe

Apparently Chico said something to the effect of ‘you can make a list of teams the Devils have dropped points to that won’t be going to the playoffs’…it’s a pretty damn long list, and why we won’t be there either
1-4-1 against the Sharks, Ducks and Coyotes. The dregs of the West, other than Chicago, who we did go 2-0-0 against. Both regulation wins actually.

1-3-0 against shitty Washington is another painful one.

And we don't win enough against other teams to offset this. 0-3-0 against the Rangers, 1-2-0 against Florida, 0-2-1 against Carolina. 0-2-1 against Tampa. 1-2-0 against Boston. And then there's 0-2-0 against Edmonton, 0-2-0 against LA.

We haven't even played the Leafs ONCE yet this year to have a record against them. We play them twice this month and once next month. It was Tampa last year that we didn't play until March before playing them 3 times in less than a week.

We went 2-0-0 against Minnesota early in the year before they made a coaching change and Hynes took over lol.

I think we're 2-0-0 against Buffalo and the Islanders. And 2-1-0 against Detroit and 2-0-1 against Philly and 1-0-0 against Pittsburgh, so we have that against the bubble/lower seeded East teams other than Washington.

We went 3-1-0 against Columbus. We were our only 6 on 5 game tying goal of the year away from going 2-2-0 against them.

McDavid is 6'1" and 200lbs. In reality, Jack Hughes is 5'10" and 175lbs. Next coach better have the balls to make wonderboy understand this.

Shutdown Jack now so he can fully recover and this place can properly implode again when he gets hurt 20 games in next season. Dude isn't learning. Even allegedly hurt, he keeps over complicating play after play, over handling the puck in the middle of the ice with his head down. I see several plays every game where he's lucky someone like Trouba isn't on the other side looking to flatten him.

He's had material injuries 2 of the last 3 seasons. There has been zero growth in his game, his temperament, or his brain from last season. Tough love is needed, especially if he thinks he can be a top line C on an eventual contender.

Not a doomer post, but next season is critical for him and the future of this team. Especially with Luke also on the team. Another disappointing season like this and.....yikes.

There’s like one poster saying something close to your first sentence.

Fitz deserves massive criticism. If he nails the coaching hire and starts reinstalling real accountability in this organization then he can be forgiven, but there are things going on this year from a leadership standpoint that are huge red flags.

It’s a top-down culture issue. Everyone just caters to Jack as the golden boy. And luke is an extension of that. It’s nonsense.

The real accountability comment is exactly right. It’s a huge problem.

God I wish we could just fast forward through the remainder of these games.

Playing out the string with a lame duck interim head coach, your most talented player clearly not at 100%, AHL level defenders, piss poor passing and decision making. It’s infuriating.

And yet, I’ll probably attend the last home game of the season.

Agree with this. He can't celebrate last year and not take some internalization for this year. The moves didn't work, and Green for Brunette (and keeping Lindy) was obviously a bust. Nobody should be in a comfy seat and his extension was bizarre.

And their roster?
Their goaltending is better than ours, they also played statistically worse goalie in Vejmelka. Agree that their defense sucks (but so does ours, especially with injuries that we have now) and their forward group has some depth.

The amount of positions on this roster that have badly underperformed either due to injury or just being awful hockey players is a bit staggering.

Very few players would get a passing grade on the season right now.

Lots of guys need to either return to form or need to be replaced and I wonder how likely it is enough of that happens next year.

You need to hope Jack and Dougie's injuries don't have any lingering effects.

3rd line needs Haula and Mercer to figure it out or be replaced. You pretty much need an entire new 4th line.

Nico and Bratt have been largely fine and Timo is trending back up so that's good.

Jack needs to both be a lot better next year and he needs to get to 100%, which he should but thats not a guarantee. Also needs two wingers because the odds of Holtz being a top 6 winger for this team is in the basement right now, odds are he is traded this offseason. Mercer isn't exactly looking like a top 6 player right now either. Palat and Haula should not be in our top 6.

Luke and Nemec should be fine long term. You have to hope Dougie comes back and is still Dougie. You need all of Siegs, Marino, and Bahl to be A LOT better or they all need to be replaced.

Then we need a goalie.

Also need a coach.

A lot needs to happen for this team to be good next year

I don't think his extension was really bizarre, but I'm gonna assume if we're not in the playoffs next year that he's either fired or possibly demoted.

That would be a carbon copy of the Shero tenure, with 1 playoff berth, which was in year 3, followed up with back to back playoff misses. And Shero started with far worse here than Fitz did.

I'd be far less shocked with a 2025 Fitz firing than I was by the 2020 Shero firing.

I'm not advocating for his firing and I've been dreading that his firing will spell the long dreaded Brodeur GM tenure. I've been saying for a while that I fear Brodeur will be the next GM, whether that's in 2 years or 10 years from now. In 10 years from now he may not even want his first GM job in his 60s. I'd rather it be Kate than Brodeur. God forbid we lose her and promote Brodeur, just like we lost golf cart man and replaced him with the bull frog we're seeing right now.

Honestly if we're looking at the Coyotes and seeing a parity team, this roster is dog shit. I don't agree, but I also wouldn't see their roster as comparable.
