The folks who think Fitz is the worst GM ever must have never paid attention to other teams. Ever. The really funny part is that their remedies to the current situation are similar to those pursued by some of the worst GMs the game has ever seen.
He’s a terrible gm.
Want me to list the reasons why?

1-4-1 against the Sharks, Ducks and Coyotes. The dregs of the West, other than Chicago, who we did go 2-0-0 against. Both regulation wins actually.

1-3-0 against shitty Washington is another painful one.

And we don't win enough against other teams to offset this. 0-3-0 against the Rangers, 1-2-0 against Florida, 0-2-1 against Carolina. 0-2-1 against Tampa. 1-2-0 against Boston. And then there's 0-2-0 against Edmonton, 0-2-0 against LA.

We haven't even played the Leafs ONCE yet this year to have a record against them. We play them twice this month and once next month. It was Tampa last year that we didn't play until March before playing them 3 times in less than a week.

We went 2-0-0 against Minnesota early in the year before they made a coaching change and Hynes took over lol.

I think we're 2-0-0 against Buffalo and the Islanders. And 2-1-0 against Detroit and 2-0-1 against Philly and 1-0-0 against Pittsburgh, so we have that against the bubble/lower seeded East teams other than Washington.

We went 3-1-0 against Columbus. We were our only 6 on 5 game tying goal of the year away from going 2-2-0 against them.

Just flat out not acceptable at any level by a serious organization

Hopefully missing context there and he followed that up with ''A little bit of it is also that I don't know how to coach, I never have and nobody respects me back there. I haven't done a god damn thing here this year. Have you seen the power play? Do you still see the power play?''.

f*** this guy. Bring back Ruff or Nas.

This is why I didn't want Ruff fired, this guy is a joke.

And we also can't really beat teams that are any good to offset the losses to the COC loser, suck teams of the league.

1 point in 3 games against Carolina, 0-3-0 against the team we went 3-1-0 against in the regular season and 4-3 against in the playoffs last year.

0 points against Edmonton in the West. 1 win in 3 tries against each of Florida and Boston.

1-3-0 against the worthless Washington Washups. That's a COC team masquerading as a bubble tam. It's a joke.

Re: Luke and the PP. I think it is less catering to Jack and more of Green trying to recapture the October / November magic on the PP where Luke was on PP1. Plus, it doesn’t seem like he is a big Nemec guy because Miller took his place before being traded so they don’t really have another option for the PP.

It is that or they are afraid that in 7 years Jack will hold a grudge about his brother being dropped from the first PP unit in his rookie season.

Seems to largely be Green is a stubborn idiot, much like Ruff was.

I don't think his extension was really bizarre, but I'm gonna assume if we're not in the playoffs next year that he's either fired or possibly demoted.

That would be a carbon copy of the Shero tenure, with 1 playoff berth, which was in year 3, followed up with back to back playoff misses. And Shero started with far worse here than Fitz did.

I'd be far less shocked with a 2025 Fitz firing than I was by the 2020 Shero firing.

I'm not advocating for his firing and I've been dreading that his firing will spell the long dreaded Brodeur GM tenure. I've been saying for a while that I fear Brodeur will be the next GM, whether that's in 2 years or 10 years from now. In 10 years from now he may not even want his first GM job in his 60s. I'd rather it be Kate than Brodeur. God forbid we lose her and promote Brodeur, just like we lost golf cart man and replaced him with the bull frog we're seeing right now.
If I read correctly, Fitz’s contract was basically up at the end of this season. Thus the extension ahead of the trade deadline.

Thing with Fitz is end of day you don't get points for trying, you get points for doing. It's nice he tried to address the goaltending, but end of the day he wasn't able to make a change until the deadline, which was far too late, and the guys he got aren't all that good.

He hung onto Ruff for far too long until it was too late and replaced him with his dunce AC.

He shares a lot of blame for this failure of a season.

Doesn't mean he can't fix it, he definitely can, but he doesn't get or deserve credit until it's actually fixed. Especially if we are going to go with the idea that the core is actually amazing, which is really a further indictment on Fitz for not being able to put a winner around that core and a coach that isn't a moron.

Really? I was under the impression his contract was up in 2025.

This was all speculation though. Because I didn't think he was a lame duck this year, especially when he didn't seem to let Lindy Ruff be a lame duck this year (he really wasn't last year, because he had the option) and you can extend basically everybody but players at any time, whereas players can't be extended until one full year before their contract ends.

I just figured his contract was up after next year and not after this one.

Fitz has to decide is this team going to compete now or not? If so then go get the pieces needed and screw what picks prospects it takes to get the right players to get the core to the next level. I don’t care if Casey might crack the lineup 3 years from now or whoever else is in the minors or might get drafted. If he wants saros (example) then go get him already

does anyone know which team holds the record for the most games where they gave up the first goal? because i have to imagine we’re within reach.
