He doesn’t have anything left to prove in terms of toughness or willingness to scrap. Somebody in that organization needs to tell him he can and should say no or he’s going to have a short career.
Ok mom. Let's wrap them in bubble wrap. We better make sure they come back to the bench and warm up if their cheeks start to get rosey..That kid will probably be on painkillers and concussed by the age of 25. So many enforcers died before 50 in the past decade but hey, it's all good, for entertainment sake
Pretty sure Oliver came out after the game saying he wasn't the one looking for that fight. One of the vets on the Rangers probably needs to reign him back in just a tad. It's pretty stupid to accept a fight in back to back nights, especially after going into a swing fest on Saturday. The point of that 4th line wasn't to put Rempe in the box from fighting majors. It's unfortunate that every tough vet needs to find some pride in swinging with him, but the kid needs to learn how to say no and pick his spots. This fight, win or lose, does nothing for the momentum at the moment the fight was initiated for us I don't think anybody claimed him to be the toughest the NHL has to offer. He has a lot of size and reach and he's just a tough kid. But he's just not protecting himself, at all. League min isn't enough to justify doing this every game to yourself.
The only case that needs to be made is watching the crowd reaction when there's a fight. That's polling 18,000 people on what they think. Do they sit on their hands or get fired up? I would say the majority are fine with fighting and wouldn't mind if there was more.Maybe I've made a weak case, but you've made no case at all.
I mean, there's video of him going up to Rempe during warmups. It definitely seems like he asked if he wanted to go and Rempe, to your point, just doesn't say no, or pick his spots. He's a young kid, excited to be in the NHL, just going "Ok, sure." You're right, somebody on NYR, payer or staff, needs to pull him back a little.Pretty sure Oliver came out after the game saying he wasn't the one looking for that fight. Oliver said he went up and complimented him on his fight the night before not asking for a fight. Rempe asked him once the game started to go.I mean, there's video of him going up to Rempe during warmups. Every tough guy has this when they 1st come up to the show. He should definitely not fight for the next game or two. That's why teams use to carry multiple fighters, so a guy could have a day off.He doesn’t have anything left to prove in terms of toughness or willingness to scrap. Somebody in that organization needs to tell him he can and should say no or he’s going to have a short career.
That's what their supposed to learn in junior, but they want to cut back on fighting so much guys don't get as skilled as they use to be it takes some time.Rempe should hire a fighting coach, but his willingnesss to throw and the way he does make him an exciting fighting prospect. I am fan, just hope he learns some defence. He could be one scary dude in time, but needs to protect himself better for longevity.
Entertaining!
Great speed too. He can definitely be an effective fourth liner. If you watch the games instead of just the highlights, you’d see that Rempe is actually a pretty decent skater.
With his size and speed along with his willingness to fight, he’ll be an excellent 3rd or 4th line player.
Fun to watch this kid, but you are spot on.That fight against Olivier was tough. He was a mess going to the box. He'd better learn some defence or he's going to be in a world of hurt down the road.
March 2nd Reaves VS Rempe I hope the coaches let us see it.
He's clearly a big strong guy and is willing, which is a big part of it, but he has zero defense, it's like he never learned how to protect himself in a fight. He got f***ed up by like 3-4 uppercuts in that fight with Olivier, it was hard to watch. He just stood there and let it happen. The guy needs to learn some defense ASAP if he's going to drop with actual fighters. Not sure why his fighting prowess is being doubted. The guy yesterday night beat him, but at very least he dueled Martin and Deslauriers to draws. Deslauriers as a fighting veteran pulled him down by the leg at the end to stop the fight because he was tired. That doesn’t constitute a win because you are better at getting a guy to the ground without punches.
exactly this - as hockey fans, we've been given a gift by Matt Rempe.. let's not take these performances for granite........ WE deserve it.Can we just enjoy the life choices of a young man who wants to entertain us. Great tilts so far
