Anyone else remember when torts was hired and admitted in that John Clark interview that he didn’t understand modern day offense and that he needs to hire an assistant coach who is an offensive guru…

…and then proceeded to hire Rocky Thompson
What a coincidence that the guy who didn't understand modern day offense didn't understand who would or would not understand modern day offense.

I've asked this before, but I wonder where Jones/Briere would draw the line at siding with Tortorella. For example, if Farabee challenged them to either choose him or the coach, would they finally side with the player?

Tortorella likely has the most power in the entire organization. The other two were hired with the mandate that they'd keep Tortorella as coach. It was a requirement in the job opening.

They already told Hayes and DeAngelo to eff off immediately because Torts said so.

I don't doubt that Tortorella might have the most power in the org. I'm wondering about the limits to his power.

But I will ask you, do not the players too? Gauthier could decide to stick it out for 4 years and pick the team of his choice.....will to power
He could and then the Flyers organization would take that as an indictment on the player for not wanting to "be a f***ing Flyer" rather than Torts. It's how the organization operates.

Hell, we pretty much saw Torey Krug do it this offseason.

The bar is set at damaging the playing career and overall value of a young player with high upside who plays a position of franchise weakness. You could up it with implied (Couturier) or overt (Farabee last season) pushing of players to play injured.

Just wanted to make a quick note in here that Tortorella is benching Brink and replacing him with Deslauriers, which is significant, not only because it makes the team much worse, but also because the game is in Minnesota, which is where Brink is from.

So we can add this to Sanheim and Frost on the list of guys who Torts randomly decided to bench in front of family and friends, either as a weird power flex or just to be a prick.

He will lie and pretend he didn’t know, once again.

Don't forget demoting York for being too mature and restrained. It was an important and good lesson for him.

This might be the first and only time I’ll say Torts is right about a non-media-hating subject

Where we’d disagree is his dumb ass thinks this is a good thing.

The way people talk on this board about Torts is like we hired Bill Dineen all over again...take it easy and enjoy the wins. In 3 years you will all get your wish and he'll be fired.
