Shapiro conference coming up at 11 today. Hopefully he pulls a Shanahan.

Wow, baseball playoffs are a crapshoot. Imagine winning 100 games, just to get swept by a team that won 84. You work for 7 months (including ST) just to get your ass whopped in the DS. Seems like a wasted effort. Almost better for Baltimore and LAD would be just loaf around for 162 games, and just turn the switch come the playoffs. Make sure you get in, just don’t go all out to win 100 games. It don’t make no sense, man.

There's that...but then there are the Astros who have now made the CS for 7 straight years.

But they barely got in as well. Came down to the second last day of the season. MLB is a grind fest. Just get in and hope your players can show up.

Watching this Shapiro presser, I now understand why he doesn't get in front of cameras more often...JFC I didn't think this guy could be less likeable but I've been proven wrong.

I thought he did quite well. He should have done the first presser instead of Atkins
I agree. I thought he did quite well. Explained everything in a measured way, unlike Atkins. I also have clarity on who made the decision to take out Berrios. Schneider shows again that he may be one of the worst managers in the league. Remember the moronic going out to the mound for the third time? Gausman’s pulling last playoffs? His handling of the bullpen, including cutting Romano at the knees going with Hicks as closer.

The Berrios decision, which we know was all his, was undefendable. Kikuchi was a starter put in a bullpen role when he had a shitty September. Don’t understand the stupid argument “but they only scored 2 runs”. Berrios was dealing. In no universe was it the right move to take him out. But I got a question? What is the role of Mattingly? As an experienced coach, shouldn’t he have told Schneider let Berrios play this out, he deserves it? Or is he all in on the analytics trumps all mentality?

The reaction by some people to Atkins presser is strange to me. Like the guys on Overdrive were pissed all year about in their minds the front office was making pitching decisions instead of the manager. They were also complaining about thinking that Atkins wasn't going to tell them who made the Berrios decision. So Atkins does tell us who's decision it was and also let's us know that the front office isn't telling the manager what to do and the overdrive guys are still upset and pivot to well he must be lying about the decision being Schneiders. Its a no win situation for atkins, there's no answer he could've given that would've made them happy.

Hoping Bryce gets a ring this year.

Find it funny he essentially was begging the Yankees to come there, even willing to play 1B and Cashman wanted no part of it.

This exactly, such a bunch of nonsense takes by people. Atkins was in a no win situation

Braves are done.

Top 4 teams in the majors, Atlanta, Baltimore, Dodgers and Tampa went 1-11 in the playoffs. And the one win, the Braves had no business winning down 5-0 in the 7th with Wheeler on the mound.

The best division in baseball went in the AL East went 0-7.

Shapiro basically confirmed that Atkins lied through his teeth.

The main takeaway from this is that Schneider made the final call regardless of what was discussed beforehand
That's the bottom line for me too. If he felt pressured that he had to make that move because of the pre-game "plan", then that shows that his decision making and common sense for the feel of the game is even worse than we thought given his blunders since he was hired. He's got no integrity, no balls, no baseball sense.

It doesn’t matter about the Berrios move anyway. Can’t win if you can’t hit. Whoever put that pos lineup together should be canned.
Immediately

Exactly. Atkins hasn’t accomplished anything In 8 years of being a GM and we have regressed. Someone should tell him if MLB didn’t expand the wildcard playoffs we wouldn’t have even made it two of the last three playoff appearances.

Time to go.

I am fine with Atkins going but the replacement has to be better than him. Obviously, that won't be happening as they are keeping him for one more year.

For me, the biggest change is hitting coaches. What does Hudgens do? Multiple players had down years.
