It was just a few months ago when we were way way down on the prospect bats, now it seems like a legit strength especially with all of the depth in close proximity. Maybe there’s no elite talent (except Babe), but a ton of guys that have starter potential.
I don't pay attention to other teams farm systems but I feel the Jays system gets underrated somewhat.

Absolutely. There’s been a lot of eyes on the O’s for good reason but breakdown the years players have had and even from a tools stand point, I don’t think there’s a tremendous separation between Orelvis/Mayo or Roden/Kjerstad. Do they have Jackson Holliday which far outshines anyone in our system? Yeah absolutely. But the Jays are starting to uncover some talent at the top levels that can just as easily rival their Joey Ortiz’s and Jordan Westburg’s. Obviously our system isn’t as good (and they took a big hit with Henderson graduating), but if we’re bottom 10 and they’re top 2 or 3 or whatever then it kinda feels like we’re entering our Athletics/Rays era of just finding scrappy sleeper prospects that know how to hit.

Kendrys Rojas and the Dunedin staff had a 7 inning no hitter in game 1 of today’s doubleheader. Bohrofen has a double and a walk in game 2.

Palmigiani has been promoted to Buffalo and is 2 for 3 in his 1st game.

You wonder how fast prospect rankings will move up Alan Roden?

Tonight he's 3 for 3 with a walk and 2 stolen bases

Now hitting .336 with a .959 OPS, 6 HR's and 7 SB's thru 36 games at double A

Get him up to Buffalo. He’s destroying AA.

In general, I would love to know how the organization decides when a player moves on to the next level. I know there is the factor of whether is there a space for the player but are there criteria that a player has to reach before they move him, or a certain amount of games at the level?

I do like how the organization doesn't rush their players and they all play at each level.

As for Roden, I wouldn't be surprised at all if he finishes in AA. He played 70 games in Vancouver and only has 30+ in New Hampshire.

He’s played 36 games. Barger and Schneider were both moved to AAA late in 2022 after about 45 AA games and both had worse numbers. So I don’t think it’s far off.

He won't move up too much unfortunately because he has a non-traditional profile. Baseball America wrote this about him a few days ago:

"He has elite plate skills and he’s an above-average defender in a corner outfield spot. He’s really not that different from Nolan Schanuel even from a swing and setup perspective. That said, like Schanuel his EVs are pretty below-average. I think it’s a nice hit tool driven corner outfield profile that can unlock some more power in the next 4-5 years."

If he succeeds, he'll likely be a guy who out-plays his prospect ranking. Don't expect him to rank like an elite prospect regardless of how well he hits.
