Another blunder by our inept manager. How you have Kirk running in a sac fly situation is another indication this guy is out of his element. This is the guy who deemed it unnecessary to play one of this franchises’ hottest players at the start of his MLB career for over a week despite the team having horrible offence with RISP. Mind-numbingly incompetent manager.
Yeah i think you are right .. i am watching game on boob tube with my wife a baseball ball girl as her dad was a player and after game she says that LOSS is all on da manager .. any decent manager pinch runs for da slowest guy in majors on 3rd base with 1 out especially after he pinch hits with a fly ball hitter .. she is telling me Jays have a VERY VERY VERY WEAK manager in baseball who would not work for any other MLB team .. not a bb guy myself and really don't watch much but it made sense to me .. can't see this team doing anything with that MGR and Vlady who looks like da Pillsbury dough boy

Reasons why this team will probably miss the playoffs despite having an elite pitching staff in order:

1. no clutch hitting with men on base
2. lack of power, including our supposed superstar Vladdy
3. managerial staff who couldn't/wouldn't address our needs on offence
4. terrible coaching staff
5. lack of execution on fundamentals (Biggio, Espinal, Kirk, etc)

They should have kept Varsho available to catch at times during the season. Was useful in Arizona.

Joe Siddal pointed out last night how the Jays kept missing really good fastballs to hit from Gore. Said that he doesn’t know, maybe they are looking for off speed stuff? So is that coaching? Are the Jays getting bad coaching all season long from the hitting coaches? I am really befuddled with this team’s lack of hitting. Kirk and Vladdy just hitting everything into the damn ground, which also drives me nuts.

I just thought about it, maybe guys like Manoah and Vladdy shouldn’t be in ads that promote fast foods and Smucker’s Uncrustables, LOL.

All those guys including Kirk and even MGR need to take their bodies seriously .. i know da Babe stuff as he was ultimate fat guy but common guys f*ck stop eating sh*t and put only healthy food into your bodies .. so much raw talent going to waste .. i personally know it is tough .. i played at 6ft5 215 and over da years ballooned up to 255-260 lbs and bottom line you can't even hit a proper golf shot cause your gut gets in way of both eyesight and your swing .. and it is freakin hard to lose weight and it takes some time and some food dedication .. took me 9 months a couple years back to get back to 215 .. but for gods sake lets go boys act like men here .. this season is gonzo .. come to camp in freakin shape next year ffs

Buck's default advice is always stuff like "Don't think so much" and "Don't watch video" and "Stop studying pitchers, just go hit them". It's a variation of his anti-analytics/anti-modern baseball schtick.

I won't pretend to know whether he's right in this case or not, but it's standard advice he gives to literally everyone who's struggling or underperforming.

I don't disagree, hitting is a game where you are constantly picking up knowledge you need to be watching tapes, listening to scouting reports but I think Bucks point about too many voices is close to the problem but there is more it, it is who those voices are, our hitting approach has been atrocious, SLG 26th, TB 21st, GDB 3rd worst, SF 3rd worst, R 20th, K 9th worst, OPS 25th. We go from a team that was top 10 in most of those categories to what was supposed to be a speed, small ball team but I don't think the hitting coaches got that memo. I see a team that still swings for the fences, no matter the count, I see a team that is not strategic in how they approach the game, they think they are last years team with a significantly different line up. They look lost at the plate.

Would signing Teoscar have helped this team with offence ?

Yes, but we traded him for Swanson and used the freed up $$ to sign Kiermaier - and both guys have been good and valuable for us.

The bigger miss was not trading for Teo back at the deadline when we were rumoured to be close on a deal for him.

Don't think so he has slowed down and will turn 31 next season. But if we compare the offense to 2021 the jays have lost a lot and Atkins if not fired will have to find solutions. 2021 Hernandez has not been replaced. 2021 Siemen has not been replaced. Also strictly offensively speaking Varsho/Kiermaier are not having as much success as 2021 Gurriel/Grichuk.

Chapman is an upgrade over Espinal but overall Atkins will have to find solutions to improve the offense. I'm not sure going with the attitude that all problems are tied to Vlad is the way to go. This offense has a lot more problems than just Vlad. They are slow on base and don't have much power. It's a pretty bad combination and will need to be addressed next summer.

For me the big miss was trading one of our best prospect along with Gurriel for Varsho. I know Varsho has his fan club and i don't dislike the player. He's a good and valuable player and overall he is a net positive for any team having him in their lienup. But i'm sorry you just don't trade one of your best prospect along with a good player like Gurriel for a guy like Varsho. You need to aim at a bigger fish or reduce your offer a bit.

Yep, that was the most baffling move of the offseason for me - trading one of the best prospects in baseball for a guy whose biggest strength was his defense in CF....only to then sign the best defensive CF in baseball moments later thus crippling Varsho's value by shifting him to LF.

Getting Teo back shouldn't even have been a topic of discussion since they should have just signed a lefty-mashing bat to platoon with their lefty hitters in the offseason like everyone knew they should.

On the plus side, if it hurt his value that much to move to LF, it should shoot back up next year when he's a full-time CF again, especially considering he's been by far the best defensive CF in baseball by every stat when he's played there this season.

Would be a great extension candidate too.

Lol I was talking about that with a friend of mine. Include Springer as well. Not because of his weight, but because all 3 have had lousy seasons.

Michael Dominguez is having a really good season. 5 IP with 10 K's, 3 BB, 2 runs, 2 hits, both solo HR's today in AA. The walks are still an issue, but just turning 23 and has been a K machine all the way up through. There needs to be serious consideration about protecting him from the rule 5 this offseason.

I’m one of the ones who likes John Schneider but not pinch running for Kirk because you may need his bat later makes him look stupid as hell. Such a dumb move.
Considering he pinch ran for Schneider the other day it makes no sense. He’s bad at his job
