I'll be quite surprised if Bader makes it to us. Boston earlier today just lost their starting CF in Jarren Duran for the season with a toe injury and the Red Sox have priority in terms of selection. I'd be shocked if they don't put in a claim.
Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if none of them make it through.

I think someone will.

Might be smarter, though, to put in a claim on Renfroe thinking he's more likely to get to you than put one in on Bader and he gets claimed and you end up with neither.

You know I love these field good stories and I'm all for having a guy live the dream but with Chapman in the last year of his contract I'd really like for Orelvis or even Barger to get there feet wet in the majors at the very least to see if we can trust to go with one of them or we have to do something with 3B in the offseason.

Buck's default advice is always stuff like "Don't think so much" and "Don't watch video" and "Stop studying pitchers, just go hit them". It's a variation of his anti-analytics/anti-modern baseball schtick.

I won't pretend to know whether he's right in this case or not, but it's standard advice he gives to literally everyone who's struggling or underperforming.

Leo Jimenez made his AAA debut tonight, got hit by pitches in his first two PA and left the game after the second one. Ugh.

Steward Berroa apparently got moved up, too. He's probably just a minor league depth guy (he's 24 and doesn't have much of an offensive track record), but he had a 121 wRC+ in AA this year. Switch hitter, walks a lot, plays CF, tons of speed... I could see him playing his way into a speed-and-defense type 4th OF.

I probably sound crazy but I'd just claim everyone. There's no way you get them all and even if you do it's like 7 million dollars, it's not that costly. You can throw a guy or 2 back on waivers if you literally got everyone. Rosters expand in 3 days. We already have McCoy, Clement and Lukes on the MLB roster, a 4th meh player coming on September 1st. Even if you got Renfroe, Bader and Grichuk and Bo and Chapman come back I'd rather them than all 4 of the trash we are rostering now. As for pitching yeah we don't have a need, but if anyone told me you can have Giolito for free in case a starter gets hurt and all you have to do is not roster Bowdan Francis I'm in. Jay Jackson has been really good, but I'll take Moore.

Claim them all. Take what gets to you. Worst case you block competitors from getting anyone they need and if the 1 in a million chance you get everyone and have to rewaive a guy or 2 then boo hoo I don't care.

Also Roden is a god, Ricky striking out 11 in 3.2 IP is wild, and it sucks that Leo got hit in both his first 2 AAA PA and might be hurt

I know the main point of your post is that you can just re-waive them, but adding all of Grichuk, Bader, and Renfroe would be absolutely awful for the roster. I like the idea of adding one of them to play against lefties, but even just adding two of them probably makes the roster worse since they would all fill essentially the same role.

There were posts earlier about not needing any RP with the bullpen being good already, but I'll gladly take an upgrade on the weakest links (Jackson/Francis)

I'm a Schneider supporter but I'm just not getting this.

Get Orelvis up here.

Pls make multiple claims and get something, there's options to move on this roster and wasting this pitching would be tragic.

So uhh trading Vladdy becoming a real possibility now? Don't know if you want him signed long term at big time money.

Another blunder by our inept manager. How you have Kirk running in a sac fly situation is another indication this guy is out of his element. This is the guy who deemed it unnecessary to play one of this franchises’ hottest players at the start of his MLB career for over a week despite the team having horrible offence with RISP. Mind-numbingly incompetent manager.

I don’t know what else is there to be said. We have been waiting all year for this team to get on a real prolonged heater, but it just never materialized. I can’t believe this team is going to piss away a chance in the playoffs with this pitching staff. Unreal.

Nothing has change between Feb 1st and Sept 1st and they are exactly where they were expected to be.

I love the live fast, die young mentality just as much as the next bloke but unfortunately with the luxury tax thresholds and the fact that you would be screwing the re-waived players out of being able to qualify for a postseason roster (I think? Right? Cuz of the whole September 1st 40 man thing), the likelihood of them claiming anyone is probably pretty low.

Maybe Bader.
