That’s a weird stat line. 2ip no hits but one earned run. I’m assume he came in and left in the middle of innings and his walk was cashed in.

I think he went 2 full innings. Something like leadoff walk who stole a base and then 2 useful outs to cash them in

While all of these ideas make sense logically from the perspective of improving the team right now, unfortunately I doubt any of these are options the FO seriously considers, especially when it comes to Barger. If the only reps he's getting would be on rest days to guys like Chapman, Springer and Vlad, it wouldn't be enough for one of the top prospects in the org. They're going to call him up when there's an everyday spot for him.

In Clement's case I agree, I've been wanting him to hold a spot on this roster for a while now too with his hitting vs LHP, but if the FO really believed Clement was a capable enough SS defensively to back up Bo (we already know he's a capable 3B defensively), then he would have taken Espinal's roster spot a while ago.

Plus, with the way they're apparently going to be easing Bo in once he's activated, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't completely 100% right now but they desperately need his bat back. I doubt they DFA the SS that they traded for because they don't trust anyone else there defensively if Bo's hurt, and risk being back in the same situation if Bo gets hurt again.

So if Bo is being eased in then play Barger there too? I don’t see a reason to continue to play players that aren’t positively contributing to the team. He can play himself into an everyday spot for 2024.

DeJong, Espinal, Chapman, Vladdy, even Merrifield haven’t been contributing this month. So what option does Schneider have on the bench? Jays have been relying far too much on their starters when they have quality bench options in the minors that can fill in. The current construction of the bench is offering nothing.

Correct move.

I mean it's not a big deal or anything but I'd probably would have sent Schneider down just from an asset management POV. Rosters expand in a week and half so Schneider would come back then and with Biggio playing the way he is the 2B reps will be split between he and Merrifield anyway so Davis could have got a few more AB's before coming back

Apparently Brandon Drury is good at baseball, and not the worst player of all time as I had previously thought.

Why is it weird? He’s hot trash. Batted .086 in 13 games… with Bo back he’s pointless. Bo, Espinal, Schneider, Biggio, Whit. They all play the infield. Someone had to go

Because you're are giving up a potential asset when you didn't have too. Easy option was option Davis Schnieder, who could probably use some AB's down in AAA to see if he can get his stroke back again and you don't risk losing anybody, and he's back in 10 days or so when the rosters expand.

That said De Jong was shit so not a huge deal.

He’s not really an asset when he wasn’t providing any value. The guy stinks

People need to stop calling dog shit an asset. You realize that dog shit players have negative value right? Dejong was a f***ing pile of trash. We got better the second he was DFA.

Roden showing some power in AA recently. Had no extra base hits through 17 games but 3 HR and 2 doubles in his last 8 games. OPS in AA up to .894. His hit tool is so good if he can even get to the point where he's hitting a few HRs he'll be a pretty solid major leaguer.

Michael Dominguez quietly having a good year. Drafted later rounds out of HS in 2019. Has made his way up to AA. Was dominating A+ the 2 months of so before the promotion, June and July in Vancouver 39 IP, 43 K, 5 ER. Walks have still been an issue. ERA of 3.69 on the year in 78 innings with 90 K's. 5 IP, 5 K, 2 BB, 5 hits, 1 ER 2 days ago in AA. Rule 5 eligible this offseason.
Keep in mind that the Fisher Cats stadium has a short porch in right that inflates pull power. I think Roden will hit for some power based on his EV numbers if he can increase his launch angle, but I wouldn't read too much into HR output in that park.

Now imagine if DeJong was in the lineup last night over Schneider

The Braves are actually insane. Their team ops of .845 is higher than our best players ops, Bo Bichette with .842. That team and AA are ridiculous. AA has literally built a career on fleecing Oakland and their team friendly contracts are amazing. The Matt Olson deal looks better then even the Donaldson deal.

Strider is the new Syndergaard except he actually kept him :(
