And youth sports organizations wonder why they have so much trouble recruiting and keeping referees and umpires.
Calling fans who chant f*** you ump the best fans ever is one of dumbest things ever. Find me a 15 year old who thinks hmmn I just heard 30000 people chant f*** you ump. That's a job I'd like to try.
Don't even get me started about the ignorant homer broadcasters and whiny little bitch players who think it's always someone else's fault when they screw up.

That's a valid point. The ump did miss a big call previously. Bases were loaded and on a 3-2 count, the pitch was a couple of inches off the plate and it was called a strike. Bohm strikes out, inning over, instead of walking and the score being 2-1.
It's a good example of where MLB should be able to review a call like that. I know they do it in AAA this season. Pitches are faster and move so much more.

Are you an umpire? This entire statement is absurd. What "whiny little bitch players" are you talking about? Umps screw up blatant calls every game and the players largely just stand there and grit their teeth (because they have no choice, more on that below). When a player does cause a scene, it is very very often legitimate - there aren't that many cases of players "whining" over legitimate strike calls.
Now, why do the players just grit their teeth? Because umpires are the actual douchebags who power-trip and eject anyone who dares look at them funny. Imagine blowing a strike call by 6+ inches and then having the audacity to eject a player or coach who told you that you missed the call. Excuse me? The players are the whiny ones? Have you ever seen an umpire back down and admit they blatantly screwed up? Or do they just eject anyone who dares question them?
Umpiring seems like the cushiest job on the planet. Just go in every day and make up whatever strike zone you want. Someone looks at you funny, just eject them. These guys are allegedly "graded" on their calls but how many of them actually ever improve? They're fully unionized and you have the same group of idiots who clearly can't see the strike zone at all coming back year after year. The players, who routinely see the strike zone better than the umps do (even though they're also tasked with actually trying to swing and hit the ball, not just look at it) are demoted or disposed of if they don't perform their task.
They should be boo'd even more often than they currently are. Their job has already been replaced by technology and yet these guys are still allowed to come out year after year and can't even perform the one task they need to perform at a consistent or acceptable rate. Pathetic.

How many times does a player / coach complain about being out or not swinging or a strike being called a strike or a foul ball being called foul? Based on my experience players / coaches are wrong more often than umps. There are quite a few cases of players.
We got the tech to completely eliminate umps from the game, if people want perfection, let computers call the game... is it as simple as not renewing the next ump CBA?
They have the technology to call balls and strikes, but they can't do the rest of the stuff in real time. The best umps in MLB still have a 6-10% error rate in their gamecalling. You’re naming scenarios in which the player/coach could still be right (other than a true strike/ball being called). I’m willing to bet the umps get away with a lot more than what players and coaches argue about and it’s fairly evident when you watch games and see players ask if a ball called a strike was on the edge of the strikezone. They have to get an early feel on what type of strikezone the ump is going to call.

My point was about the trickle down to youth sports. There is a massive shortage of officials in every sport. Broadcasters don't know the rules get mad at umpires when they are doing their job correctly. Athletes whine about one thing that doesn't go their way. Aren't athletes supposed to be Role Models? Yell f*** You Umpire if something doesn't go your way. Great Job!
The little league parents, coaches, players etc all watch them and think it's okay to treat the 15 year old who's umpiring for the first time in his life the same as what they see on TV. It's getting ridiculous. Why would any teenager want to stick around? Most of the little league umpires are all older guys who have been around for decades and the game workload is insane because there is no one else available. I probably do 150 games a year. There is like zero influx of new umpires. Games that get cancelled because there aren't enough umpires. TBall has completely gotten rid of umpires and Houseleague has changed the rules so that official games can be played with Parents and Coaches being the umpire.
The Phil Nevin post game thing where he had to be restrained post-game actually happened to me at a u16 game. A Coach, Parent, 2 players cornered me after the game in the parking lot. But I didn't have security guards to get rid of them. Gave me a 15 minute lecture about how I should let players swear at me because that is just how they talk. Kid said "f*** you that's f***ing Bullshit" 6 inches in front of my nose and I ejected him. Do you think I should have let him say that and just ignore it?
Can I laugh and say you f***ing suck every time a batter swings at a pitch that bounces? Being a sports official is actually a really tough job It is the only job in the world where people expect perfection and expect you to get better at the same time. The tiniest mistake (if it even was a mistake) people are (sort of) permitted to yell and scream at you. Have you ever seen a player or manager in a post game say I looked up the rule or watched the replay after the game, the umpire was right, and apologize to the umpire?
I assume you've never been to an umpire clinic or read the umpire manuals. Most ejections come from words or actions where umpires have been given specific instructions to eject immediately. There is a right way to argue and voice your opinion. You don't need to scream obscenities like a whiny little bitch to make your point.

AAA has a challenge system like in tennis for some games. In other games the use the Automatic Ball/Strike system which still has some bad kinks too.
If you watch the TV boxes super close they aren't actually consistent to the real strike zone either. When Phil Nevin tried to attack the umpires in Toronto after the game that is a perfect example. The AppleTV Box didn't put the pitch location in the correct spot. And I assume Nevin only saw AppleTV version. The umpire actually got the pitch correct but the TV Box was off so Nevin thought it was a ball.

Manager got ejected arguing balls and strikes in a game with robot umps. Crowd booed the umpire for calling pitches balls with the ABS.
