The thought has always been if you put Meh! hitters between great hitters the Meh! hitter will see more fastballs. How true that is I dont know, I have more of an issue on how he is using his bull pen and how he lets games get away. Not sure if this guy is goign to finish the season.
I think the chances of him being fired before the end of the season are almost exactly zero. Other than a few super weird moves over the season, I don't see much to complain about with his bullpen usage.

I'm a little surprised no one gave up a mediocre AAA starter or something the Jays could use to plug a hole at Buffalo, but it's hard to care too much about losing him for nothing considering he would be, at best, the 7th guy out of the pen.

I assume it would be Lukes going back down for Horwitz, and I guess that one doesn't really matter too much. Horwitz's power has completely disappeared since reaching AAA last year, but he's been an on-base machine, especially against righties. Plug him into Belt's defensive role with less playing time (1B/DH once in a while and never against lefties) and slot him in at the bottom of the lineup to see if he can get on base for the big bats.
It was stated when he was dfa'd that he was no longer a member of the organization. At that point teams had to know that they held all.The leverage and were under no obligation to give the Jays anything when they could just wait it out and he would be released. The only reason a team would trade someone would be to open a 40-man spot but that also wouldn't be strictly necessary in every case. The optics of a team trading for someone at the centre of a distracrion/firestorm may also be in play, who knows.

I don't really have much of an issue with the manager honestly. Never going to agree with every move but I don't think the struggles are on him. The change I can see happening if we happen to not make the playoffs, and obviously early for this discussion is Atkins being shown the door and Click taking over.

Individually, other teams don't really hold any leverage right now; he's a free agent and can sign wherever he wants. If a team needed a boost to their bullpen and thought he could help, trading for him would take that choice out of his hands.

If he had been waiver claimed, the Jays would have simply given him to the claiming team (because it gets them out of the contract).

Oh yeah, I didn't expect a waiver claim. I was referring specifically to a trade, where the Jays could get some random minor league filler in exchange for retaining most of his salary. I mean, ultimately it doesn't matter since any piece they would have gotten back would have had really close to zero value, but I expected more than nothing for some reason.

Mattingly....

I expected a trade as well, but for a different reason. I expected a major leaguer that provides some value but who makes too much for what he does.

Toronto Blue Jays

Get Alek Manoah back on track and add a depth bat

The Blue Jays have a solid rotation, led by Kevin Gausman, Chris Bassitt, José Berríos and Yusei Kikuchi. However, their best starter last year, Manoah, has been a total disaster. He went 1-7 with a 6.36 ERA in 13 starts before being optioned to the Florida Complex League. Imagine if he had pitched like he did last season, when he finished third in the American League Cy Young Award voting, going 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA. Had he pitched like that to start this year, the Blue Jays would be in second place, knocking on the door of the Rays. Toronto’s biggest need right now is simply to get him back on track. In terms of a trade, another depth bat would help their push for the playoffs.

I saw a tweet saying, that before the season started you knew Manoah would be sent to Dunedin because he was so bad, and Vladdy only had 9 homers would you accept the Jays being a game or two out of the playoffs?

With Manoah they need to keep him down for at east the twenty games which I think happens easily. Keeps him from becoming a super two and we’ll gain an extra arb year

The player with the highest ops in the Yankees lineup today was Billy McKinney. He also played CF which is crazy because if i recall correctly he sucked defensively in RF.

Honestly thought getting Bradfield was a possibility but he is going higher and higher in drafts. Elite CF who can get on base, steal and has power. Could be ready by late 2024.

MLB had him ranked 16th and the Jays have the 20th pick. I could see him going in the top 10.

Big fan of Chase Davis going back to his high school days. Big time power and bat speed. His swing reminds me of Cargo. Tools play down in the field. Left field only for me.

Former Jays prospect, a part of the Whit Merrifield deal, Samad Taylor is getting the call to the Royals Major League roster. Best of luck to Taylor, liked him a lot since we acquired him in the Joe Smith trade with Cleveland.
Same here... I always really liked the power/speed combo he offered. I just noticed a couple days ago that he's having a nice season in AAA, so that's fun. That seems like a good example of a win-win trade.

at this point, I'm just at the survive and advance stage. Feels like the Jays are usually good for 1 crazy run during the season.
