Astros bullpen choked late vs the Dodgers, including a go-ahead run scoring off a Stanek balk.

Looks like Angels/Jays leapfrog the Astros tonight for WC3. Weird because they're probably sellers at the deadline and more of a .500 team.
Man was he furious

I'm assuming he's maybe available next off season? We never seem close on the japanese players
We were apparently runner up on Masataka Yoshida, who would look great on this team right now. Don't remember being close on any but our approach seems to have changed the last few years and we have been more aggressive.

It's going back a bit further, but runner up on Darvish too.

I believe so. And you bite your tongue;

I was advocating for optioning Biggio to Buffalo earlier in the year, but man has he ever turned it around. He had an awful April and has been excellent ever since.

April - 17 wRC+. Gross. Not walking (6%), striking out nearly 40%, making horrible contact (19% hard hit rate, basically just popping everything up)

May - 133 wRC+. Still not walking (5%), but K's down closer to 30%, hard hit rate up over 40% and getting some well-earned BABIP luck (.364). Huge improvements!

June - 128 wRC+. Walking again (11%), K's down to 23%, mashing the shit out of the ball (hard hit rate up to 57% - second in all of baseball this month), not relying on BABIP at all (.240).

He was a really solid contributor last year (97 wRC+, 1.3 fWAR in around half a season) and he's been an underrated piece the last couple months. Hopefully he can keep it up.

Was just coming to post this. One of the key differences is he's more aggressive early. Yesterday was a great example. Instead of watching a hittable pitch go by, he ambushes the fastball. He would get behind in count 0-2 or 1-2 in April.

The same can be said about Espinal. Since he's come back from injury:

.265/.405/.382, 1.75 BB/K, 131 wRC+. Only Jays with higher OBPs this month are Clement (4 PAs) and Heineman (18 PAs)

It is crazy that Biggio was so bad early on that even with these red hot tears he's been on, his OPS+ on the year sits at 88.

I'll become the #1 Biggiliever if once the heater ends he doesn't immediately go back on a cold spell. Give me consistent 110 WRC+ against RHPs for the rest of the year and we'll be golden, Cavan.

Alan Roden 2022 3rd rounder is having a very good season

.295 batting avg with a .412 OBP

Struck out only 25 times in 217 AB's while walking 33 times

20. Toronto Blue Jays

Dillon Head, CF, Homewood Flossmoor HS (Illinois)

Head has been tied to the Jays for a while, with this pick and No. 25 to San Diego as the most likely landing spots. I think Toronto is still pretty open to other demographics, but I'm hearing mostly prep bats here, which also seem to be what will be on the board.

I haven't seen a single player mocked to the Jays duplicayes to date. The mocks have us taking a prep hitter, college hitter, or high school pitcher. Probably would mock a college pitcher too but none seem to be left on the board at 20.

I think it's clear no one knows for sure where we are locked on but lots of intriguing options.
