My wish list for the off-season. And it kind of involves tanking.

Somehow win that damn lottery and draft Macklin.

Sign Nylander 7 x 10ish

Somehow dump Armia and Dvorak

Dach returns fully healthy

Newhook back at it

2024-25

Caufield - Suzuki - Slaf
Celebrini - Dach - Nylander
Anderson - Newhook - Gally
RHP - Evans - Ylonen
Celebrini is a great 2 way center . I don't believe MSL is going to make him play in the wing. Pretty sure Dach will be back on the wing or they can share the center position (until Celebrini is ready for it).

Also, if we get lucky in the draft. Kent won't sign Nylander. If Dach stay healthy, his next contract is going to be huge. Celebrini contract (after 3 years). You can also add Ghule. 2023-2024 first round pick.

Watching the Rocket perform.
I'm starting to realize just how good our tank could have been if Houle got the reins to our big club.
While Marty earned his stripes in Laval. :skeptic:
Laval could have been better with ahl player like Anthony Richard and Belzile. Don't know why they signed with another team. With habs player getting injure left and right. They could have been playing with the Habs right now. Dumb decision.

This is/would have been his 5th NHL season. His career high in games played is 70, then 64, then 58.

Career high in points is 38, followed by 26.

He's got huge potential and I'm glad we have him, but at this point right now, his current contract at 3.36M$/year is very fair. Super speculation, I doubt he signs for much more than 5-6M next time. Unless he does stay healthy AND we draft a Celebrini type of player than feeds him points.

If he stay healthy. He is not going to sign a 6m x 8 years contract. His next contract would be around 7m. We are talking about a 6ft4 center with huge potential.

The only way he sign for 5-6m is going to for a short contract (like 3-4 years).

Gonna have to start putting points on the boards to get there.

I'd be the happiest guy around if he turned into a PPG+ player and would love to pay 10M$/year for it. Not gonna hold my breath though.

Making progress, going to crack bottom 8 soon.
Just look at the roster. Our top goal scorer has 10 goals. The vets are brutal. Dvorak, Gallagher, Armia eating 15+ million and none of them produce. We could add Anderson to that list but he started showing a pulse. The young D for the most part are showing their sophomore blues.
This team is bottom 5.

Is safe to say we will end up around 5-8. The bottom 4 would be the same as last year. The real problem are Ottawa and Calgary. Did the Sens give up on this season? Will Calgary start selling ad beginning a rebuild?

Pretty sure Edmonton, Minnesota and Seattle would stay above us in the standing. Same about Buffalo (maybe).

The way this team is currently built makes zero sense. I know Hughes is working on the rebuild but my goodness this team is bad.
They also can't ignore this horrendous coaching staff.

Nice to lose a couple.
I still see us as 8-12 tho.
Too many trash teams this year.

We are so back. 2 more tough ones on the road and we'll be on the right track. Gotta kill the morale before we face some weaker teams in late Jan.

I still see us between 5-7, with an outside shot at 4 depending on the result of our 3 games vs the Sens.

Sens will come around and pass us easily along with Buffalo. I would also add Columbus to the list of teams that will pass us.

we need a top 5 pick this year and next .

However, For this team to get to the next step, Hughes needs to find someone to play with Caufield and Suzuki . Nylander would be a dream. 8 years * 11m$.

Caufield-Suzuki-Nylander
Slafkovsky-Dach-Newhook/Anderson

Could be a nice top 6 to work with .
